    Z-Alpha Therapeutics is a pharmaceutical company dedicated to the discovery and development of radiotherapeutics targeting key biological pathways for solid tumors. The company has a revolutionary technology platform in the next generation of alpha particle therapy with potential to be a more targeted therapy, increasing efficacy and limiting toxicity compared to competitors in the radiotherapeutics space. The company has a world-class team of scientists with decades of experience and foundational intellectual property that enables the potential to bring multiple drug candidates into the clinic.

    Position:

    Reporting to and working closely with the CEO, the VP, Finance & Operations will be responsible to own and administer a wide variety of finance, operational, general, and administrative functions within the company. The role will initially involve significant hands-on individual contribution, as well as leadership and administrative capacity.

    The VP, Finance & Operations will lead the G&A functions of the company. Including FP&A, investor / capitalization management, accounting activities of the organization, and will support the CEO in all future fundraising activities, as necessary. Further, the VP, Finance & Operations will lead the design and implementation of processes, IT systems, and hiring for the company's general and administrative functions as the operations of the company grow, its needs and complexity increase, and it continues to enhance its control environment. Due to the dynamic of a start-up company, some job responsibilities and duties could change to meet company objectives and strategies.

    Responsibilities

    · Provide strategic leadership for corporate structure and entity establishment issues.

    · Prepare and present materials to the board of directors, as needed.

    · Oversee and manage the company's general liability, EPLI, and workers' compensation, and corporate insurance needs, working with the company's broker to ensure the company maintains the proper coverage and limits.

    · Provide support to the organization, including the clinical and research teams, to create transparency around key facility and financial parameters and assumptions, including spending controls/limits and expense accruals. Develop and maintain a periodic reporting process for each department to ensure they are aware of their spend, variances to budget and KPIs.

    · Partner closely with members of the senior management on executing business strategies. Manage relationships with functional departments heads, staying abreast of strategic needs that may drive changes to financial policies, tools, and risk management.

    · Lead the company's FP&A function, including the development of operating budgets and rolling forecasts; partnering with the Leadership Team to prepare comprehensive budgets that align with the strategic plan.

    · Oversee and manage the company's treasury function, working with the company's investment advisor to ensure sufficient liquidity.

    · Working closely with existing stakeholders and consultants, direct and oversee the general accounting function, including month-end analyses and overall general ledger maintenance, accounts payable, payroll and stock administration.

    · Lead and direct corporate tax compliance for annual tax returns, annual provisions as well as tax projects, as needed.

    · Design, develop, and implement an internal controls framework commensurate with the size and complexity of the organization.

    · Oversee the planning and coordination of audits and quarterly reviews; ensure timely and successful completion of financial audits.

    · Oversee the technical accounting function to ensure new, or newly relevant, guidance has been identified, properly accessed, and documented in a clear, logical, and comprehensive manner, and that the necessary controls and procedures are in place to allow for proper adoption.

    · Identify opportunities for improved financial performance. Continually seeks ways to improve operating efficiency within the overall business.

    · Lead the review, management, and storage of corporate contracts for budget and accounting implications.

    · Administration and maintenance of cloud-based corporate records and external-facing data rooms.

    · Understand and organize the company's legal obligations to investors, clients, technology licensors, and other 3rd parties. and take primary responsibility for compliance.

    · Management and oversight of several outsourced firms and consultants that perform basic functions for the organization:

    · Legal

    - Negotiating NDAs and employment agreements

    · IT

    - Computers, hardware, and software support for the organization

    · HR

    - Recruiting & hiring, grant administration, new hire onboarding

    · Facilities management

    - Work with CEO to identify, negotiate, and source facilities to meet the needs of the organization; Oversee office administration

    · Website development

    Oversight, optimization, and top-level administration of our corporate software

    Qualifications

    · Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance

    · CPA required with deep knowledge of US GAAP and SEC regulations.

    · Experience working with Chinese entities, familiarity with Chinese regulatory environment.

    · 13+ years of progressively responsible accounting or financial reporting experience.

    · Previous Big 4 public accounting experience.

    · Previous experience at a publicly traded biotechnology company required.

    · Experience with internal, external auditing programs in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry.

    · Effective oral and written communication skills.

    · Effective team leadership and participation skills.

    · Ability to think and plan strategically.

    Computer expertise, including strong Microsoft Office skills and an understanding of the various software programs available as the needs of the Company evolve.
