    This role maintains and administers all Linux machines within the Tower Hill network while providing the highest levels of machine performance and reliability possible.

    Requirements

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

    • Assist with support and maintenance of 100+ Amazon/Redhat/Ubuntu Linux Servers
    • Works with development team to develop/test/QA and deploy internally developed software releases to Linux servers
    • Identifies and documents processes & procedures in written form
    • Works with vendors, application developers, database administrators, system engineers, and other technology groups to resolve technical issues
    • Responsible for trouble tickets coming in through the Help Desk
    • Support a 24/7 environment with night and/or weekend availability
    • Automation and scripting (bash/python) to ensure repeatable processes and expected behavior from system deployments.
    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
    • Associate's degree in a related area preferred with at least 5 years of experience in the field or in a related area or a total of 8 years of IT experience.
    • 5+ years working with Linux in an enterprise environment
    • Experience with complex automation and/or deployment processes (Java/Tomcat experience a plus)
    • Experience with source control and has used at least one system in practice
    • Linux server administration experience (httpd or nginx experience is a plus)
    • Extensive experience in a command-line Linux environment working with standard Linux programs and scripts; cron, filesystems, awk
    • Strong scripting experience with one of the following: Python, Perl, Bash scripting, etc.
    • Experience working with or troubleshooting with at least one database installed on Linux - Postgres, MySQL, Oracle, etc
    • Experience working with or troubleshooting with at least one cache installed on Linux - redis, memcached, terracotta
    • Experience with at least one of logging infrastructure system, such as splunk, or ELK, or logrotate
    • Experience with AWS, Terraform, and other cloud technologies.
    • Experience with working alongside a development staff, providing both support and systems-level recommendations as needed
    • Working knowledge of and hands-on working experience with network configurations, services, routing and related protocols as they are implemented in Linux (TCP/IP, SMTP, HTTP, FTP, DNS, DHCP etc...).
    • Knowledge of products and tools for all aspects of system management, including backup, network/system monitoring (Nagios/CheckMK a plus), scripting, automation, and security
    • Experience working with a security analysis tool such as Nessus, OpenVAS, snort, etc
    • Ability to quickly review large amounts of information and make knowledgeable statements regarding noticeable patterns in distributed systems.
    • Excellent analytical, documentation and communication skills.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive customer and internal information
    • Linux certifications a plus
    • Diagramming skills a plus
    • Docker/Kubernetes experience a plus
