Program Manager
Veteran's Affairs
Department of Human Services
Hourly Wage:
$21.11/Regular/Full-Time
The Program Manager will be responsible for the administration, direction, and management of the Veteran's Affairs Program. Develop and recommend annual budget and pursue external funding opportunities. The purpose of this department is helping veterans, and their families obtain benefits to which they are entitled. Establish and maintain confidentiality, policies, procedures, and guidelines that are applicable to Veteran's issues. Perform other duties as assigned.
Examples of Work Performed:
Assist Veterans & their families to access their benefits.
Establishes and administers internal controls for program inventory.
Ability to access current timekeeping system iSolved, as administrator, review and approve leave requests, verify timecards.
Submit monthly, quarterly, yearly reports by established deadlines.
Oversees, maintains, & updates the Veteran's information and data system.
Serves as an advocate on all Veteran Legislative issues.
Considerable knowledge of the organization, functions, and responsibilities of the various Veterans Service Organizations.
Observe inadequacies in existing Veteran's Law, Rule, and Regulations; presents suggested revisions to the Veteran's Committee for consideration and final determination.
Provides strong visible support in various Veteran Community functions.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of Yakama Nation Administrative, management & financial principles and practices.
Knowledge of federal and state regulations applicable to Veterans benefits and issues.
Knowledge of fundraising, Grant writing, and Grant Administration.
Knows and understands local/regional emergency resources available for Veterans.
Ability to follow established chain of command, organizational protocols, policies, and procedures.
Ability to travel when necessary.
Ability to generate budget report balances from D365 ensuring budget accuracy.
Skill and ability to use computer and assorted software.
Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely in oral and written form.
Ability to establish and maintain working relationships within the Veteran Community.
Ability to analyze work situations and determine correct course of action.
Ability to work as a team member or as a team leader.
Ability to supervise subordinate personnel with tact, fairness, and impartiality.
Minimum Requirements:
Two-year Associate's Degree required.
Must have excellent reading, math, problem solving, and communication skills.
Must possess a valid Washington State Driver's License with the ability to obtain a Yakama Nation Driving permit.
Must pass a pre-employment background check.
Required to pass a pre-employment drug test.
Preferred Requirements:
Enrolled Yakama Preference, but all qualified applicants are encouraged to apply.
Five (5) years of administrative, financial and/or supervisory experience preferred.
Four-year Bachelor's Degree preferred.
