    Job Description Summary-

    The purpose of this job is to provide professional engineering design, maintenance, and technical support. Ensures proper function, adequate capacity, and regulatory compliance.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities-


    The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities performed by employees in this job.

    Employees may be requested to perform job-related tasks other than those specifically presented in this description.

    Prepares, modifies, reviews, and/or submits engineering and construction designs, plans, reports, estimates, and specifications.

    Collects and maintains data for engineering projects and departments. Analyzes and validates data.

    Manages capital improvement projects from identification, prioritization, and design through construction and final acceptance.

    Calculates and prepares cost estimates for construction projects, technical specifications, and written reports.

    Conducts technical reviews on engineering and construction proposals, reports, plans, and calculations

    Ensures plans, specifications, estimates, and reports comply with local, state, and federal requirements and regulations.

    Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function.

    Ensures projects follow the public process and comply with City ordinances.

    Participates in public meetings, concept reviews, and communicates with customers.

    Performs other duties as assigned.

    Supervisory Responsibilities-

    No supervisory authority. Work does require providing guidance and training to others.

    Education and Experience-

    Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field appropriate to the job responsibility. 3 to 5 years' experience in engineering, construction, or related field

    Licenses or Certifications-Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.

    This position requires a Professional Engineer license. If the candidate does not have a P.E., consideration may be given to hiring the candidate as an Engineering Specialist ($30.72 to $37.79/hour)

    Valid driver's license.

    Knowledge of-


    Principles, practices, and methods of civil engineering and construction, including such specialties as land surveying and mapping, hydraulics, structures, geotechnical, transportation and/or sanitary sewer.

    Standard practices, methods, materials, tools, and equipment of construction and building trades.

    Business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, and/or production methods.

    Engineering design software and computer drafting.

    Maps, deeds, plats and plans.

    Planning and Zoning regulations.

    Skilled in-

    Estimating time and materials needed to complete jobs.

    Communicating verbally and in writing to meet the needs of the audience.

    Collecting, organizing, and analyzing complex and/or technical data.

    Ability to-

    Work from blueprints, plans, and sketches.

    Prepare accurate plans, computations, drawings, specifications, cost estimates and engineering reports.

    Recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.

    Compile, organize, interpret, and communicate data and results concisely.

    Regularly use a computer, software, phone and related office equipment.

    Focus on tasks.
