    OverviewRidges Hospital is looking for a passionate and hardworking Nursing Assistant to join our Medical Surgical Oncology unit Located in Burnsville, just 20 minutes south of Minneapolis, MN, near the 35 E and 35 W conjunctions.

    This unit is a 28 Bed unit that cares for adult patients with a wide range of medical conditions, surgical interventions and surgical oncology needs.

    This position is a .6 FTE, working 48 hours per 2 week pay period. This position works 8-hour shifts, every other weekend rotation (Fri,Sat,Sun), and on the day/evening (7am-3:30 pm) & (3pm-11:30pm) shift.

    Check out more of our benefits information Job DescriptionThe Nursing Assistant is responsible for assisting the professional nurse/caregiver in the delivery of patient care, transporting patient and/or equipment, setting up and maintaining patient rooms, and the reordering and stocking of supplies.

    The Nursing Assistant does not work autonomously but works under the direction of a professional nurse.

    The Nursing Assistant may be given a patient care assignment based on unit needs and the discretion of the manager/charge nurse.

    Provides basic patient care by performing routine duties to include:

    Personal grooming, bathing, toileting, Feeding,Skin care needs (clean and sterile dressing changes), applying ointments/creams,Oral hygiene,Specimen collection/testing,Position/ambulating,Changing linens,Promptly answers call lights.

    Assists the nurse in monitoring patient condition.
    Accurately takes and records weights, input/output, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rates, respiration, oxygen saturation.
    Places patient on/off monitors or equipment.
    Reports unusual findings to the RN in a timely manner.
    Assists with admissions, transfers, and discharge of patients.
    Orients patient and their family to the environment.
    Assures the patient's belongings are accounted for, documented upon admission, transfer and discharge.
    Transports patients, equipment, specimen and supplies.
    Assures patients get to appointments on time.
    Uses transfer belt when assisting patients with transfers and/or ambulation.
    Cleans sets up, and maintains rooms and equipment.
    Orders and stocks supplies.
    Accurately documents tasks performed on appropriate form.
    Performs other tasks as needed.

    QualificationsLicense/Certification/RegistrationSuccessful completion of Fairview's OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program or another Fairview sponsored Nursing Assistant programORSix months of recent direct care experience in a long term, home care or acute care setting.

    (Appropriate roles may include, Nursing Assistant, PCA, Resident Assistant or Emergency Room TechnicianORCurrent enrollment in an LPN, RN or Nurse Practitioner program, and completion of one (1) semester of clinical rotation within the programORCurrent certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire.

    This requirement does not need to be maintained throughout employment and is not required if subsequently transferring into another Nursing Assistant or Nursing Station Tech or Nursing Station Attendant position Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification required.

    Ontrack participants much be able to obtain Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification upon completion of the OnTrack program.
