    The Edward M. Kennedy Academy for Health Careers (EMK) is looking for a highly qualified and knowledgeable Cluster Substitute Teacher. Kennedy Academy is committed to high expectations for achievement, equal access to quality instruction, and closing the achievement gap among student subgroups.

    Kennedy Academy is a college preparatory and vocational high school for Boston students interested in health careers. Under the Bloomberg Philanthropies' $38 million grant, the school will double in size, introduce new health career pathways, and provide graduates with access to good-paying careers at Mass General Brigham.

    Overview of the Position:

    Cluster Substitute Teachers cover teacher absences for ten days or fewer per absence.

    Daily assignments at the school may vary.

    Exhibits strong knowledge of child development, designs effective support plans, and differentiates learning experiences.

    Builds a productive learning environment, engages all students, and adapts instruction to make curriculum accessible to all.

    Actively creates an environment where students' diverse backgrounds are respected and maintained.

    Engages with families, connects with students' backgrounds, and provides clear expectations for student learning and development.

    Regularly reflects on practice, collaborates with colleagues, and supports the academic, behavioral, and social/emotional experiences of students.

    Required Qualifications:

    Minimum of an undergraduate college/university degree.

    Current authorization to work in the United States.

    Successful completion of a screening interview and a criminal background check.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Massachusetts Teaching License in assigned content and grade level.

    Experience working with children in school or community settings, particularly in urban schools.

    Bilingual candidates are valued, especially those fluent in Spanish, Creole, Chinese, Vietnamese, Portuguese, or Somali.
