    Senior Compliance Specialist (Pipeline/Oil &Gas)

    Duration - Full Time/Direct Hire

    Softworld is currently recruiting a Sr. Compliance Specialist to work in hybrid model in Washington, MI. The ideal candidate should possess a minimum of 5 years of natural gas operations, maintenance, or support experience, preferably with additional hazardous liquid experience. Strong knowledge of DOT Operator Qualification Program, and familiarity with 49 CFR Part 192 are essential, coupled with the ability to collaborate effectively across various teams and handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

    GENERAL SUMMARY

    This individual will be a subject matter expert to contribute pipeline operational knowledge and experience to assist with oversight of Company compliance with federal and state pipeline safety regulations. This position will collaborate with Company operations and construction personnel to ensure a high standard of compliance with pipeline safety regulations and the Company's Operations and Maintenance Plan.

    This position is based in the Company's office near Washington, Michigan remotely reporting to Sr. Manager, Codes and Regulatory. The position has primary responsibilities to support the assets within the states of Michigan and Ohio but will occasionally require travel to other states in which the Company operates. Approximately 30% overnight travel is expected.

    PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Serves as Company's primary point of contact with Michigan and Ohio assets as relates to compliance with pipeline safety rules and regulations.
    • Travel to Company field and office locations to collaborate with operations and construction personnel.
    • Participates in the maintenance and review of the Company's Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Plan
    • Reviews, writes and maintains procedures that comprise Company's O&M Plan
    • Provides quality control checks on records required by Company's O&M Plan
    • Reviews new construction records to ensure quality and type of records meet Company specifications.
    • Assists with administration of programs required by 49 CFR Part 192 and Part 195, including but not limited to Operation Qualification (OQ) Program and Damage Prevention Program
    • Coordinates with Operations and Construction groups to identify and set up contractors that need to be included in the OQ database and communicates with contractors to address expiring qualifications.
    • As part of Damage Prevention Program, attend periodic meetings with first responder, public officials and excavators.
    • Defines the training and qualification requirements for personnel performing covered tasks. Manages the covered task list in accordance with the pipeline safety regulations.
    • Responsible for examining qualification data related to Company's OQ Program
    • Conducts, coordinates and develops / revises evaluator training associated with Company's OQ Program
    • Responsible for and oversees documenting the operation employee's regulatory and non-regulatory qualifications.
    • Special projects or other duties as assigned

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

    • Strong technical writing skills and previous experience with procedure writing
    • A minimum of HS Diploma or GED equivalent is required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a technical or business focus is preferred
    • Must have at least 5 years of natural gas operations, maintenance or support experience; some hazardous liquid experience in addition to natural gas experience is preferred
    • Knowledge of DOT Operator Qualification Program
    • Experience in training and development is preferred
    • General knowledge of natural gas pipeline construction is preferred
    • Working knowledge of 49 CFR Part 192 is required; knowledge of 49 CFR Part 195 in addition to 49 CFR Part 192 is preferred
    • Strong technical writing skills are required
    • Strong organizational skills with flexibility to handle multiple projects and to prioritize assignments in a fast-paced, changing work environment is required
    • Strong presentation skills; excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Technical and interpersonal skills with the ability to analyze various aspects of operations (i.e., technical, contractual and financial)
    • Strong computer skills; proficient with word processing and spreadsheets and presentation software
    • Work collaboratively with a wide variety of teams including field operations, engineering and management
    • Ability to travel to field locations as required and to conduct field evaluations/inspections in a pipeline right-of-way environment and/or all weather conditions
    • Ability to perform job duties with minimal supervision
