- Documents and implements procedures to help with efficiency as well as serve as a backup in accounts receivables, payables, and monthly closes
- Ensures annual audits are performed in accordance with OMB Circular A-133, GAAP, and/or other applicable regulatory standards
- Balance sheet and general ledger account analyses and reconciliations
- Prepare and submit government filings to state and city localities
- Work with other departments to improve efficiency, for submissions to state agencies, regulatory bodies, payroll, 403(b) contributions, health insurance, etc.
- Runs reports in Finance system as well as make general journal, accounts payable, and accounts receivable entries
- Work on special accounting, finance, efficiency, and documentation projects with CFO for a variety of purposes
- Current federal and state laws, regulations, policies, and directives
- General office software, particularly Microsoft Office Suite.
- Self-driven and self-directed; will have the ability to successfully develop professional relationships within all levels of management.
- Must possess positive and impactful leadership skills; strong communication (written and verbal) skills; a high level of professional/technical knowledge within the broad field of human resources; capable of managing a number of ongoing projects with high level of attention to detail; planning and organizational skills.

- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Finance, Business Administration, or Accounting required
- 3 or more years of progressive professional accounting experience required
- Must be ethical, self-motivated, dependable/reliable, and detail oriented.
- Must be able to meet routine office physical office demands including but not limited to; climbing stairs, carrying up to 20 pound objects and possessing the dexterity and vision to operate office computers and equipment.
- Must be able to travel to the other sites of the organization for regulatory compliance activities.
- Must have a valid Connecticut Driver's license.
- Must be able to interface easily with staff, other senior management personnel, and external vendors.

Summary:
The Senior Accountant plays a central role in the development and maintenance of finance and accounting activities. The Senior Accountant works independently and collaboratively with the CFO and team.
She/he has the primary responsibility for the efficient processing of month end Journal entries as well as back up to accounts receivables and payables.
Other responsibilities include:
maintaining the general ledger(s), supporting accounts payable and receivable, preparation of accounts and billing, monthly payroll processing, and audit preparation and implementation, and special projects to improve efficiency of the department.
This position provides significant opportunity for growth and experience as it will be in some ways involved with every aspect of the accounting department.
