    Our firm is searching for a Legal Assistant in the Personal Injury department. The right candidate must have at least 2 years of experience in working for a law firm as a legal assistant/paralegal with NY case experience. The position is Full time in office, Monday through Friday 830am -5pm. (Competitive salary, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401k,)

    Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    · Scan/saved all incoming mail, emails and faxes

    · Calendar all notices with respect to defense examination, depositions, arbitration, mediation dates and court notices

    · Send all notice letters to clients involving DME, depositions, arbitrations (when applicable), mediation and court appearances.

    · For depositions, arrange for court reporter and translator and/or videographer, if needed, when noticed by our office.

    · Confirm all attorney appearances the day before the event

    · Obtain all medical records. Request narrative reports under the direction of the paralegal or attorney

    · Compile and arrange all medical records in electronic file so they can be attached to Form A responses

    · Draft cover letter for amendments and serve with attachments on defense

    · Schedule Plaintiff Medical Exam (PME) and compile and send all relevant medical records and MRI films to PME doctor after attorney reviews and approves.

    · Handle incoming calls along with Paralegal

    · Handle funding requests

    · Draft subpoenas – duces tecum, ad testificandum, or trial subpoenas, etc.

    · Request and send out Closing documents, follow up on settlement checks.

    · Request cost checks

    · Update the Treatment Tracker along with Paralegal

    · Making sure the 45-Day No Client Contact Report is up to date along with the paralegal

    · Draft cut letters on prelitigation cases when instructed by a Prelitigation Manager

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelors College Degree or Relevant Legal Services or Paralegal Certificate preferred.
    • 1-2+ years experience as a Legal Assistant/Paralegal working on NY Personal Injury cases
    • Detail oriented, accustomed to working directly with an attorney.
    • Ability to commute and work onsite at the River Edge, NJ office every day, M-F
    • Preferred (but not mandatory) experience using: Outlook calendar, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Needles (or other Case Management Systems), Litify, online filing for NY.
