Quality Lab SpecialistThis is a contract position with an opportunity to be hired full-time.
Integrity Trade Services has partnered up with an international cement manufacturer in the Houston area and is hiring looking for a Lab Specialist.
Conducts sampling and inspection of raw material, in-process, and cement every 2 hours
Accurately prepares samples from raw material, in-process, and cement
Performs laboratory tests on the following but not limited to: strength, chemical composition, color, fineness, setting time etc.
Operates and maintains QC instruments on the following but not limited to: XRF, jet sieve analyzer, compressive strength machine etc.
Inspects raw materials, bulk and packaged cementReviews production process for conformance
Reports any deviations from quality standards
Monitors and reports daily quality objectives, issues and concerns to the management
Verifies all products being produced are within desired specification
Verifies Calibration of balances and volumetric
Place internal orders for consumables to maintain lab stock and an accurate materials inventory
Recommends corrective action
Ensures all quality related corrective actions are implemented effectively and are being maintained
Adheres to all safety policies and procedures
Ensures correct and safe operation of equipment
Attends daily meetings to prioritize work orders and minimize downtime
Identifies potential problems from collected data
Maintain good housekeeping conditions in all working areas
Performs other duties as assigned
Quality Lab Specialist Qualifications
High school diploma or GED / Chemistry degree
Knowledge of Cement manufacturing process
Ability to understand the methods and instruments in the laboratory for on-the-spot troubleshooting
Knowledge of ASTM standard related with portland cement (C150, C114, C109 etc.)
Read, understand and utilize standard operating procedures and methods
Chemical analyze experience
Able to use XRF, furnace, autoclave, scales, jet sieve analyzer, Compressive strength machine, etc.
Ability to work in cement manufacturing environment that may be hot, cold, wet, dusty, and physically demanding. Must be able to hear and see warning horns and other hazards
Performs a wide range of essential duties requiring heavy lifting, awkward work positions, climbing ladders and frequent movement both within and outside multi-floor buildings
Must have a good understanding of blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures
Basic math skills, computer skills including Microsoft Excel
Team player and willing to work with minimal supervision
Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
Knowledge of the occupational hazards and applicable safety precautions of the assigned work
Positive attitude, collaborative worker, team player
Covers off-shift calls as needed and attends work regularly and reliably
Ability to work overtime, weekends, holidays, with the ability to respond to call outs as needed to fulfill business objective and the ability to work shifts for plant or field conditions.
Must be willing to take responsibility of other team members' absence of any team membersLocation:

Salary:
$20/hr.
Schedule/Shift Details
Working Hours/Shift: 3pm to 12am.
