Job summary
A Financial counselor serves as the liaison between the patient and the practice by coordinating payments assistance monitoring patient balances and streamlining communication of the financial responsibilities of our patients.
Responsibilities
- Monitors coordinates internally externally with insurance company on pre-certification prior authorization processes including peer- appeals seeking support from provider or pharmacy team when applicable.
- Review assigned patients physician schedules for upcoming visits treatment to establish patient financial responsibility review patients treatment plan identify if insurance benefit coverage active patient fiscal responsibility all unplanned exceptions communicated to provider immediately.
- If applicable obtain necessary information from patient for assistance income guidelines identify review new treatment orders generate estimate service review with patient explaining insurance benefits fiscal responsibility assist patients completing paperwork for assistance other grant funded programs secure financial aid treatment services have understanding of patient assistance programs grant services processes ensure adequate application placement coordination financial aid counseling team comply Federal State laws regulations pertaining patent care rights safety billing collections will work overtime given sufficient notice required overtime keep work area records neat orderly maintain company equipment safe working order adhere AON departmental policies procedures revenue cycle policies procedures perform duties projects assigned
