JOB SUMMARY:
Performs routine inspection andtesting of raw materials, product in process and/or finished goods usingmetallurgical laboratory equipment, precision measuring tools and gauges.
Organizes and prioritizes departmental workflow to ensure effective use of departmental resources. Performs scheduled calibration of equipmentto support departmental workflow.Essential Duties andResponsibilities:

Performs assigned routine and advanced tests on rawmaterial, product in process, or finished goods in accordance with theindustry, customer and/or company quality standards/specifications.
Performs macro examination forsuperficial surface defects such as laps, cracks, pits, etc.
Prepares samples for microexamination by sectioning, mounting and polishing.
Performs advanced micro examination such as HTO, EM,IGC, grain size, grain flow, grain growth, carburization and decarburization,plating thickness, etc.
Utilizes proper testingequipment to inspect product for adherence to print and/or customerspecifications.
Records results on inspectionforms or charts and test reports.
Assures that inspectionequipment is calibrated and in good working condition.
Meets and maintainsproductivity levels in support of departmental standards, goals and schedules.
Performs records keeping,equipment calibration, data entry, housekeeping, and follows safetyregulations.

Qualifications
COMPETENCIES:
To perform thisjob successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential dutysatisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of theknowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpretdocuments such as work orders, safety rules, operating and maintenanceinstructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add,subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers,common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Abilities:
Ability to apply common senseunderstanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagramform. Ability to perform complex dutieswhere a high level of independent judgment and action is required.
Blueprint Reading:
Ability to read and interpretblueprints.
Other Qualifications:
Skilled in the set up and use of metallurgicalequipment such as cut-off saw, bench lathe, automatic polisher, metallograph,micro-hardness tester, and plating thickness machine.
Ability to use precision measuring instruments,such as micrometers and calipers.Proven ability to perform mechanical and physicaltesting on product, such as conductivity testing, drivability testing, sheartesting, tensile testing.
Ability to read and understanda manufacturing work order sequence of operations.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual mustbe computer literate and be familiar with Spreadsheet software and WordProcessing software.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High schooldiploma or general education degree (GED). Five (5) years inspection experienceworking in an aerospace manufacturing environment (preferred in fastenerindustry).
