- Ensuring that product has been produced in accordance with the defined metallurgical processes of the applicable Toronto production department, including:
- Ensuring that the product meets the customer requirements.
- Ensuring that the customer approval and fixed practice requirements have been followed.
- Controlling product produced under DOE's and MPE's.
- Arranging for re-testing, rework and deviation of non-conforming product.
- Working with the Operations and Planning group to facilitate material movement through the department.
- Working with the OSC to ensure product has been processed in accordance with subcontractor approvals and agreed process routes.
- Assisting the Chief Metallurgist with the introduction of new products or processes into standard production and write detailed technical reports.
- Review non-standard orders and consult with Chief Metallurgist on poor process capability orders.
- Review basis specifications and consult with tech edit on capabilities versus requirements.
- Define test requirements.
- Maintain FTP databases and highlight most frequent causes of non-conformance.
- Develop corrective actions or improvement projects aimed at non-conformance reduction.
- Review specification technical requirements.
- Assist Chief Metallurgist with resolution of customer technical questions/problems
- Investigate and respond to customer complaints of a technical nature.
- Handle customer process qualifications, approvals and metallurgical offers.
- Develop working relationships with counterparts at customers and end users.
- Assist with customer visits and audits and prepare responses to resultant actions.
- Communicate with production personnel on metallurgical and quality assurance requirements.
- Provide guidance and training to the department Product Metallurgist.
- Liaise with peers in research, sales and applications development team(s) on new product/process development.
- Provide technical contribution to achievement of company and plant goals and objectives.

Senior Metallurgist Summary:
The Senior Metallurgist is responsible for the maintenance of all technical and metallurgical quality aspects of the products manufactured by the TIMET Toronto production department in which the Senior Product Metallurgist operates. This job is a career progression step from a Product Metallurgist or an entry position for candidates with significant and relevant metals processing experience.
Principal Responsibilities:

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Working knowledge of titanium metallurgy, and metal working operations
Working knowledge of aerospace and industrial material and quality specifications
Awareness of laboratory and nondestructive testing methods
Ability to apply basic statistical techniques and analysis tools (e.g. Minitab)

Physical Requirements: Standard office environment. Ability to sit at a computer terminal for extended periods. Sufficient mobility and dexterity for shop floor observation and interactions.
