We are currently recruiting for multiple Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselors to work at Central Regional Hospital (CRH) in the Department of Psychosocial Treatment (PST).

The primary purpose of this position involves providing assessment, evaluation, and counseling services to individuals and groups in an inpatient psychiatric facility. Services include evaluating and treating mental disorders and other conditions using a combination of clinical mental health and human development principles, methods, diagnostic procedures, treatment plans, and other psychotherapeutic techniques. Employees independently provide service to patients in an inpatient psychiatric facility who may require treatment in issues such as sexual/physical abuse, legal violations, family disruption, mental illness, and developmental disabilities. Employees serve as a group therapist in a general or specific area of concentration providing short-term and long-term group therapy. Work requires an understanding of evident-based therapies. Employees use considerable judgement in conducting individual assessments as well as in providing group therapy. Interventions are performed with considerable independence and may be jointly planned with other clinicians. Minimal daily instruction is required. Decisions regarding the service and treatment of patients affect the social, psychological, emotional, and physical health of patients, some of which are admitted for forensic purposes. This position may function as a liaison with the clinical treatment units (Acute Adult, Community Transition, Forensic Services, and Geriatric Services) under the direction of the Senior Psychologist.
The normal work hours for these positions are 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday - Friday with flexibility to meet hospital needs. These are full-time positions and eligible for the full State benefits package including health insurance and retirement. These positions are designated Mandatory and must report or stay over during adverse weather.

• Knowledge of assessment and counseling/therapy principles and their practical application to complex case work, group-work, crisis intervention, and community issues.
• Knowledge of a wide range of medical, behavioral, and/or psychosocial problems and their treatment theory.
• Knowledge of group dynamics and a range of intervention techniques, governmental and private organizations, and resources in the community, laws, regulations, and policies which govern the program.
• Ability to establish rapport with patients in applying techniques or assessing psychosocial behavior and psychological aspects of patient's problems.
• Ability to evaluate and screen patients for appropriate treatment and develop clear, goal-oriented treatment plans and document progress of patients.
• Knowledge of trauma informed care as well as psychiatric disorders such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, attention deficit disorders, psychotic disorder, depression personality disorder, substance abuse, schizoaffective disorder, and conduct disorders.

Physical Requirements:
These positions are trained in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) therapeutic self-protective techniques.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Master's degree in psychology, clinical social work, marriage and family therapy, clinical counseling or human services related field from an appropriately accredited educational institution.

Necessary Special Qualification Requirements Must hold an independent license to practice as a licensed clinical mental health counselor in North Carolina or have met the requirements to be licensed in North Carolina at the associate or provisional level as a licensed clinical mental health counselor.
