The Corporate Office is in Southern California (Ventura) and its Regional Boat Maintenance Center a technically advanced facility in Woodbine Georgia.
Join the dynamic MMSI team as a Welder responsible for performing maintenance and repair for the Southeast Region Port Operations for the Navy.
Required to perform manual welding procedures using Shielded Metal Arc welding (SMAW) or Oxy-Acetylene torches or use semiautomatic systems such as wire feeder machines or Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG).
Must be able to set up and use welding equipment in a variety of positions (such as flat, vertical, horizontal, and overhead).
May also perform soldering and brazing operations. Standard metals that will be worked include all types of steels, aluminum.The marine Welder will fabricate, assemble and erect all structural parts of a vessel.
May also use heavy machinery such as plate planners, shears, punches, drill presses, bending rolls, bending slabs, saws, angle roll (vertical and horizontal), dogs and wedges, as well as perform grinding, drilling, and fit up operations on vessel hull.
Perform welding and fitting on pier side support equipment including but not limited to Accommodation Brows, Brow Stands, Line Reals, Boom Reals, etc.
Ability to pass AWS welding Certification test
Principals and techniques of marine welding equipment operations
Tools and equipment used in maintenance of small vessel systems
Formal Welding training
AWS Welding Certification
Use of tools and equipment to fabricate and repair marine equipment
Use of pneumatic, hydraulic and marine tools
Familiarity with welding equipment service and maintenance
Communicate effectively with the public both orally and in writing
Pass an AWS Welding Test
