    Description

    Summary



    About the Position: This is an Interdisciplinary position which may be filled by any of the following series: Architect (0808), Civil Engineer (0810), Mechanical Engineer (0830), and Electrical Engineer

    You will serve as a Project Engineer or Architect performing Contracting Officer Representative (COR) responsibilities for the enforcement of contract requirements for all assigned contracts.



    Duties

    • Utilize all available resources to maintain progress and ensure safe, high quality, and timely completionof construction projects.
    • Investigate the need for contract change orders including consultations with the designer for design changes.
    • Receive and check for contract compliance of technical submittals from the contractor such as shop drawings.
    • Coordinate with customers, contractors, designers, Quality Assurance and District personnel in order to determine appropriate changes necessary to the contracts.
    • Coordinate office and field engineering construction, and inspection activities through a staff of engineering and/or technical employees.
    • Support the Area and Resident Engineer in regards to workload and budget planning for the monitoring of S and A expenditures.
    • May establish performance standards and make evaluations if designated by the Resident Engineer.
    • Ensure review of safety precautions exercised by contractors and suggest remedial measurements as required.
    • Assure that all construction is accomplished in accordance with proper quality control and assurance procedures.
    • Review Quality Assurance report, spot-checks contractor quality control reports, and test results for compliance/accuracy.
    • Request proposals, estimates, and negotiates with contractors to make recommendations to the Contracting Officer and Administrative Contracting Officer (ACO).
    • Coordinate Architect-Engineer review of technical submittals where such contracts exist.
    • Discuss details of construction with contractor personnel, recommend changes to the contracts, and coordinate the authorizations with the ACO.
    • Advise others in the performance of actions for resolving change orders, claims, differing site conditions, contract delays, and value engineering change proposals
