    It's an exciting time for the Laboratory Medicine Department as many of our teams have recently moved into our new innovative laboratory medicine facility on East 64th Street Our new Laboratory Medicine Building improves operational efficiency, allowing our Laboratory Medicine team to provide test results more quickly and reduce the amount of blood needed from a patient to generate those results.

    The Clinical Microbiology Lab is currently seeking an experienced Microbiology Operations Supervisor on the evening shift and will be responsible for all laboratory operations .


    Administrative responsibilities:

    Supervise the day-to-day operations of the culturing, rapid, and testing performed on the evening shift within the Microbiology lab.

    Work collaboratively with Physicians/Director, patient care staff/clinicians, and other departments to optimize workflow while maintaining accreditation and licensure.
    Personnel development, coaching and mentoring of technical staff
    Developing personnel goals, tasks and service standards to set a high morale and motivation within the Microbiology lab
    Maintaining training and competency files for staff members assigned to and rotating in your sections
    Review and approval of new or revised documents, processes, test methods and their validations
    ensuring that written procedures are accurate, adherence to SOPs by staff, and that documents are placed in a controlled location
    Supervising all staff on teh evening shift and assist with the hand-off to night shift.

    Coordinating and supervising personnel in the technical operations of the Microbiology lab on a day-to-day basis.

    Ensuring that technical procedures are performed according to the SOP under the highest standards of quality in a timely manner.

    Review of all completed result reports for each shift.
    Oversee the performance of periodic equipment quality control and preventive maintenance procedures


    Quality/Compliance:

    Assist the Lab Manager to guarantee compliance with local, state and federal accrediting and regulatory organizations regarding all processes and patient sample testing including compliance with OSHA, FDA, NYSDOH, Joint Commission, CLIA etc.

    Performs audits of the Microbiology Laboratory operations to ensure compliance with the laboratory's quality/compliance program, standard operating procedures and regulatory agencies.

    Communicates findings to the Microbiology lab Director/management team.
    Bachelor's degree clinical laboratory sciences required
    ~Microbiology experience preferred
    ~ Monday - Friday 4PM-12AM
    On call every 5th weekend
