    DetailsAlamo Group Inc. is currently accepting applications to fill the position of Electrical Engineer at its Huntsville, Alabama location.

    Under general direction, the R D Electrical Engineer will collaborate with the Alamo Group Advanced Technology Center and business unit engineers to evaluate and design advanced technology products.

    The R D Electrical Engineer will design various electrical harnesses and control systems, calibrations and components needed for electrification efforts of chassis and Alamo Group business units' products.


    The Electrical Engineer will:
    Design, develop, document and supervises all aspects of electrical systems, equipment, and machinery.

    Create system architecture, schematic and Harness design including high voltage Harnesses and connectorsIntegrate Generators and motors into vehicle systems as well as design power distribution boxConfigure inverters and drives for electric drivetrains Position and mount electric drive components with respect to space claim, NVH, thermal and electrical criteria Layout of cooling, battery pack, routing of high voltage wires Design and integrate various hybrid electric systems into truck chassis and other Alamo Group business unit products'Work in partnership with multiple business units to understand products and collaborate on solutionsDesign and implement Human Machine Interfaces (HMI)Drive design choices to maximize safety and value to the companyTroubleshoot issues with hardware and processesResearches and continuously learns new technologies available with the goal of incorporating into current and new product designs.

    Some familiarity with ERP and/or MRP system.

    Complete additional duties as assignedThe ideal candidate will have/be:
    Experience designing, documenting, and implementing electrical harnesses in mobile industrial equipment.
    Must be able to prioritize team's success over personal gain, with timely results and quality work.

    Must be able to collaborate in a group setting building on each other's ideas to produce a best solution based on hard factors, not ego or loudest voice.

    Demonstrated experience documenting electrical designs for manufacturing.

    Experience using graphical programming environments like MATLAB, Simulink, CodeSys or like create control systems and HMI.Experience with CAN Bus, CANopen, j1939, OBD, SPN, PGN, DTC SPN, and similarExperience with high and low voltage electric drive systems including motors, inverters, and battery packsAbility to read, interpret and create drawings, schematics, operator's manuals, and assembly instructionsAbility to use hand tools such as rachet drivers, wrenches, hammers, punches, soldering irons, de-soldering tools, and a variety of crimpers.

    Ability to perform basic measurements using tape measure, protractor, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring devices Ability to perform basic measurements using multimeter, o-scope and other measuring devicesSkilled and proficient with the use of personal computers; including JDE, and standard office software (i.e., Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access, etc.)

    Familiar with ASIL testing and verificationFamiliar with PCB design and component level engineeringKnowledge of setup and calibration of inverters:
    Innmotion, Curtis, Zapi, Cascadia, John Deere, Rinehart etc.

    Knowledge and understanding of Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) principles and EMI shieldingExperience with high voltage EV connectors (Tyco, Amphenol etc.) Experience with Class 6-8 truck chassis design and modificationWorking knowledge of EPA truck emissions rules and changesExcellent communication skills both verbal and written.

    Ability to communicate with various levels within the organization.

    Strong planning and project management skills with the ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple projects and priorities.

    Demonstrated ability to provide timely, detailed, results oriented products.
    Able to work irregular and/or long hours that may include weekends and/or holidays as project requirements dictate.

    Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field is required. Minimum 3-5 years of previous experience in a vehicle or similar complex system, designing electrical systems for mobile equipment.

    The employee is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.

    The employee must lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.
