    Position Title

    Software Asset Management Specialist
    Seeking a candidate to work onsite and be able to obtain a federal security clearance. No Corp to Corp.
    Purpose

    East Tennessee world class laboratory is seeking a Software Asset Management Specialist to join their growing team. The team manages 15K+ client and server systems in a highly dynamic research community utilizing many configuration management tools.

    This position will focus on aspects of Software Asset Management including but not limited to licensing, program management, contracts, data analysis, financial operations, order management, and software distribution.

    Major

    Duties/Responsibilities

    Act as the subject matter expert for the software landscape at client.
    Gather, collate, and present complex sets of data in an easily digestible way to a wide variety of audiences.
    Mature software lifecycle management, deployment, monitoring, and acquisition.

    Work closely with Procurement for contract negotiations related to software licensing by providing supporting data and information related to software licensing.

    Assist client leadership and users in learning and understanding software compliance and risks.
    Driving continuous improvement through roadmaps, and strategic initiatives.
    Required Qualifications

    Knowledge of software management monitoring and management options (metering, deployment, removal, etc.) for each operating system platform.
    Understanding of

    Cloud/Virtualization/Containerization

    technologies (VMware, XenApp, XenDesktop, Azure, AWS, AppV, Kubernetes, etc.)
    Experience in security vulnerability assessment and remediation using industry standard tools to analyze IAVM/CVE/CIS findings.
    Ability to learn and maintain updated knowledge of various Tier 1 vendor license models (Microsoft, IBM, Oracle, VMware, Adobe, ServiceNow, etc...) and the ability to interpret software contracts/EULA's
    Measures of Success

    Manages and minimize risks related to non-standardization, vulnerabilities, and IT software licensing complexities
    Improves the simplification for acquiring common software assets, building a strong portfolio for the client community
    Begin to centrally manage software assets from the disparate groups that manage it now.
    Through ROI measures, mature the program justifying its growth to IT leadership

    An understanding and practical experience in an operational IT organization, with experience in robust testing and change control procedures.

    Experience

    Certifications in Software Asset Management is a plus and/or experience in ITAM/ITSM solutions.
    Experience with Flexera FlexNet Manager, App Portal, and/or Data Platform or ServiceNow SAM.
    A bachelor's degree in a computer, engineering, or science-related discipline is preferred.

    However, practical experience is more important than educational background, particularly for candidates with eight or more years of practical experience.
