    What is the Staff Data Engineer role?

    CopilotIQ is looking for a Staff Data Engineer (remote position, within the United States) to join our rapidly growing team. This is an incredible role for someone looking to get into one of the most exciting companies in healthcare technology with a strong mission that has quantifiable improvements on patients' outcomes Your work will directly impact people's lives You will be leading key data engineering projects that drive collaboration across the company, owning core SQL and python data pipelines that power our data lake and data warehouse.

    What you'll be doing:

    • Working with batch data pipelines involving AWS Glue, SNS, Lambda, PySpark and Redshift
    • Delivering well documented data with defined dataset quality, uptime, and usefulness.
    • Using SQL as a flexible and extensible tool, and are comfortable with modern SQL data orchestration tools like DBT and Airflow.
    • Drive schema design, and can evolve an analytics schema on top of unstructured data.
    • Work in a small team of senior frontend and backend engineers, responsible for Infrastructure design and development;
    • You like to get deep in the weeds to manage, deploy, and improve low level data infrastructure.
    • You are empathetic working with stakeholders. You listen to them, ask the right questions, and collaboratively come up with the best solutions for their needs.
    • You are a champion for data privacy and integrity, and always act in the best interest of consumers.
    • You will lead and own data quality and data architecture
    • You will mentor junior engineers

    What you'll bring:

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field;
    • 4+ years of dedicated data engineering experience, solving complex data pipelines issues at scale.
    • You are a mission driven strong collaborator that has product passion and deeply cares for growth, learning and adding meaningful impact through your efficient technical work;
    • Self-motivated with a proactive, "go-getter" mentality;
    • Demonstrates and applies broad knowledge of software engineering concepts, practices, and procedures for product and solution development and data pipelines at scale;
    • Strong analytical skills

    Technologies Required:

    • Databases: AWS Redshift advanced management expertise; familiarity with DocumentDB and DynamoDB
    • Orchestration tools: Apache Airflow, AWS Glue
    • Big data technologies: Apache Spark, Yarn
    • Programming: Python, PySpark, Java, SQL
    • Database modeling: Dimension modeling, ER modeling, Star schema modeling, Snowflake modeling
    • Strong experience with AWS, its services and best practices, including: Lambda, S3;
    • Business Intelligence reporting tools experience (i.e. Sigma)

    Bonus Points for:

    • Familiar with AWS Solution Constructs (CDK, Cloud Development Kit), even better if in Java;
    • Work experience in the healthcare space and familiarity with HIPAA regulations (at least, as it pertains to ingestion, processing, storage and serving of patient data)
    • Machine Learning Techniques: model building, Classification and Regression Trees, Clustering, NLP, Associative rules, PyTorch
