Preferred experience with form work and working in shafts/deep excavations. Must have hand tools.
SUMMARYConstructs, erects, and repairs structures.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Must be able to work while tied off to fall protection; work at heights of over 50 feetWork with mechanical interfaces to the concrete structures for embedded items;Setting embedded items and grouting to specifications;Skilled in use of necessary hand and power tools;Must be able to work with level;Studies and understands blueprints, sketches, or bridge plans for information pertaining to type of material required;Selects specified type of lumber or other materials;Prepares layout;Measures boards, timbers, or plywood, and marks cutting lines on materials;Shapes materials to prescribed measurements;Nails cleats (braces) across boards to construct concrete-supporting forms;Braces forms in place with timbers, tie rods, and anchor bolts, for use in building concrete piers, footing, and walls;Assembles cut and shaped materials and fastens them together with nails, dowel pins, or glue;Sets expansion dams;Assemble or run overhang modules or stick built overhangs;Climb wingwalls, retaining walls;Assemble wood deck forms;Constructs forms and chutes for pouring concrete;Assists in pouring and finishing of concrete;Erects scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures above ground level.
Assist with the following finisher activities:
Signals concrete deliverer to position truck to facilitate pouring concrete.
Moves discharge chute of truck to direct concrete into forms.
Spreads concrete into inaccessible sections of forms with rake or shovel.
Levels concrete to specified depth and workable consistency, with hand held screed and floats to bring water to surface and produce soft topping.
Smooths and shapes surfaces of freshly poured concrete.Finishes concrete surfaces, or wets and rubs concrete with abrasive stone to impart finish.
Removes rough or defective spots from concrete surfaces, and patches holes with fresh concrete or epoxy compound.
Molds expansion joints and edges.
Sprinkles colored stone chips, powdered steel, or coloring powder on concrete to produce prescribed finish.
Produces rough concrete surface with broom.
Mixes cement with hoe or concrete-mixing machine.
Use of hand tools such as; hoe, trowel, tamper, and scraper.
Breaks up and repairs old concrete surfaces.
