- Must be knowledgeable of federal, state laws, and VA regulations relative to Social Services for residential, skilled and long-term care.
- Must have professional knowledge of the methods and practice of social work.
- Must have current and valid Social Work License from State of Maine.
- Must be knowledgeable of normal aging process, casework process, medical and public health settings, principles of public welfare, and a working knowledge of the social and health-related resources of the community.
- Must have proven ability to effectively communicate, verbally and in writing, with a wide range of people in the long-term care environment, including ability to communicate pertinent information about a resident's condition and to collaborate with other disciplines both within and outside MVH.
- Must have a Social Services Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college/university; valid State of Maine Social Work license; and social services experience in the long-term care or related field is preferred.

MVH - South Paris is all about community. Our nursing home has a country charm and small town feel where residents and employees know one another by name. Our focus is on providing top-quality senior care, comfort and camaraderie for the Veterans who call South Paris home.
The Licensed Social Worker performs work of a professional nature and is responsible for executing the functions of the Social Services Department of the Home in order to assure the emotional and social well-being of the residents and their families in accordance with Maine Veterans' Homes policies and governmental regulations.
