    Employee Health Clinical Assistant

    Purpose Of Position:

    • The Employee Health Assistant functions under the direction of a licensed nurse and under his/her supervision performs various duties to assist the nurse in the care and treatment of employees and employee candidates.
    • Will be responsible for testing and tasks required by the Employee Health Clinical Assistant are performed according to established policies and procedures of the Department of Nursing.


    Independent Action:
    • Functions under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse within the established policies protocols and procedures of HR, EHS, and the Nursing Department.
    • Supervisory Responsibilities: None.

    Education:
    • High school diploma or equivalent required. Students of nursing, EMT/Paramedic, lab, CCA, PCT, PCA, and medical assistant programs are welcomed.


    Basic Knowledge/Skills/Aptitude And Experience:
    • Graduate or current student of a certification or technical program (EMT, Paramedic, CNA/CCA, PCT, PGA. laboratory, etc.) Previous health care experience is desirable.


    Reasoning And Communication Skills:
    • Essential functions include activities in which the incumbent must convey and receive detailed or important instructions to and from associates, candidates for positions at our client, volunteers, visitors and other professional and non-professional groups including the following capabilities:
    • Understands the customer's needs and provides correct information and the ability to resolve problems requiring logical thinking and follow through.
    • Functions calmly and logically under tense and difficult situations.
    • Works with frequent interruptions and responds appropriately to unexpected situations.
    • Constructive feedback and initiates appropriate actions to correct situations.
    • Deals with a variety of unique situations where only limited standardization may exist.
    • Interprets a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
    • Uses appropriate judgment in communications and actions with patients, physicians, other associates, outside agencies and suppliers. Demonstrates well-developed interpersonal skills to work in a fast-paced environment involving interaction with associates, clients, and patients.


    Primary Responsibilities:
    • Performs duties necessary to assist in collecting, reporting, and documenting simple data. Reports data to licensed nurse/manager.
    • Takes temperature, blood pressure, pulse respiration and oximetry readings, as directed, and reports to responsible nurse as well as recording in employee's record.
    • Collects required specimens (urine, etc.), as directed.
    • Performs other duties as required or assigned. May perform work of a higher level in preparation for increased responsibility.
