- Contribute expertise in acoustics, vibrations, and/or dynamics of mass timber structures to the design and testing of a novel Deconstructable CLT and steel composite floor system.
- Conduct in-depth analysis of acoustics and vibrations of a CLT and steel composite floor system.
- Contribute to life cycle assessments of the proposed structural system.
- Assist in the design and execution of strength testing of the proposed structural system.
- Collaborate with a diverse team of researchers and industry partners to advance the project goals.
- PhD in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related field, with a focus on structural acoustics and/or vibrations.
- Demonstrated expertise in sustainable design and life cycle analysis (LCA).
- Experience in experimental design and testing in structural engineering.
- Specific experience in mass timber systems, particularly CLT, is highly desirable.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

About the Opportunity
We are seeking highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our multi-institutional research team led by Professor Jerome Hajjar at Northeastern Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. This position is part of a pioneering project funded by the Department of Energy's Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E), focusing on developing carbon sequestration techniques using cross-laminated timber (CLT) composite floor systems in bolted steel construction for building structures.
