    Job Responsibilities and Requirements

    Reliance Matrix is seeking a Product Specialist to become part of the Product Development team, which manages the enterprise's Financial Protection (Life, Short Term Disability and Long Term Disability), Absence (including Statutory Disability and Paid Family & Medical Leave) and Supplemental Health product portfolio.

    Reporting to the Product Director, this individual will contribute to all aspects of the product lifecycle for both existing products and new product launches.

    Product Strategy

    • Support the Product Director in driving the execution of the strategic vision and development pipeline for a specific product or set of products.
    • Assist the Product Director in assessing the market and identifying opportunities for growth within the product portfolio.
    Product Management (support for existing offerings)

    • Partner with Marketing Communications, along with other key stakeholders, to create content for educational materials that detail product provisions and capabilities for brokers, employers and employees.
    • Function as a utility player by supporting ongoing product enhancements and rollouts to our internal Sales & Customer Solutions team.
    • Aid in the creation of training materials and additional educational tools that arm our Sales & Customer Solutions team with the knowledge needed to win and retain business.
    • Assist the Product Director in the process of researching competitors in order to create talking points, comparisons and positioning statements for our Sales & Customer Solutions team.
    • Lead the review of existing resource materials and identify appropriate updates.
    • Attend industry calls and webinars and report learnings back to the entire Product Development team.
    Product Development (support for new offerings)

    • Be a student of the industry by tracking the market landscape and trends to identify potential future product enhancements.
    • Support market-driven product development project plans.
    • Develop product specifications and assist in the development of project requirements.
    • Fully understand customer needs, competitive offerings and market positioning.
    Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Related Experience

    • Bachelor's degree in business management, risk management, insurance or related field.
    • Previous insurance experience, ideally in a product management/development role, or possibly in a sales, claims, underwriting, actuarial or service role that worked across multiple functions.
    • A solid grasp of the group insurance market and key players within the industry.
    • A basic understanding of how products are developed and brought to market.
    • A strong understanding of the drivers of profitable growth, how the products are serviced, distribution channels and customers.
    • Ability to work in a dynamic environment on multiple projects, tasks or assignments.
    • Strong communication skills, both oral & written.
    • Motivated self-starter with demonstrated initiative.
    • Ability to collaborate with the entire Product Development team in order to deliver on the department's roadmap.

    Ability to Travel:
    Up to 10%

    Hiring Range:
    $76, $101,970.00 Salary


    • The hiring range listed in this posting represents the expected hiring range for work performed in the primary location (Philadelphia, PA). If this role is eligible for remote work, or will report to a different office than the one listed above, the hiring range may differ.
    Work location may be flexible if approved by the Company.
