    Ensuring that the company's policies, procedures, standards, forms and underwriting manuals are compliant for each state in which automobile and property policies are written. Analyze issues related to personal lines underwriting to help improve the company's combined ratio. Assist operational departments in resolving complex rule, form and procedural questions. Conduct research to identify and recommend product revisions or new product offerings, along with development and implementation of new or revised coverage forms in response to company initiatives and industry changes, your work will help us continue to deliver the exceptional financial protection our group members deserve

    Your Role Explained.

    Roles and responsibilities of the Product & Underwriting Analyst position include...

    • Underwriting Manuals/Regulatory Filings: Performs manual revisions and peer review assignments. Prepares and submits rate, rule and form filings to state Departments of Insurance. Ensures compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements. Updates filing logs and ensures filing status deadlines are met. Coordinates all manual related changes with other departments to ensure the timely release of revised manuals, related forms or procedures and maintains archived versions of all past and current manuals.
    • Product Development: Conducts research; identifies and recommends product revisions or new product offerings; reviews proposals. Develops and implements new or revised coverage forms in response to Company initiatives, ISO personal lines program coverage changes, law changes and DOI bulletins and notices. Analyzes and prepares comparisons of current to new/revised auto and property products to develop corporate and policyholder communications. Monitors changes to state laws and regulations that may affect the coverage or products offered in each state. Identifies and communicates appropriate action needed to ensure compliance.
    • Non-contract Forms & Letters: Researches and designs and/or amends applications, coverage selection/rejection forms, named driver exclusion forms, internal/external underwriting questionnaires and any other state non-contract forms as needed to implement legislative/regulatory or company-initiated changes. Coordinates form changes with affected departments to ensure timely implementation of changes and maintains current and archived versions of forms in a non-contract forms matrix. Manages underwriting letters and oversees compliance of state mandated letters.
    • Special Case Reviews: Responds in writing to all Department of Insurance complaints, Claims coverage questions, Better Business Bureau complaints, Home Office complaints, CTA complaints, Customer Service complaints, Partner Relations complaints, legal requests, and Certified Policy Requests by the specified due dates.
    • Competitive Intelligence & Research: Conducts legal research using internal and external resources. Evaluates and reports on competitor activities and strategies, focusing on product changes, coverages and services.
    • Internal Customer Support: Maintains company underwriting standards and procedures; and ensures publication in the content management system. Conducts quality control audits. Responds to and prioritizes Underwriting Help Desk questions in a timely manner based on user need.
    • Other duties as required: Job may require fulfilling other incidental or related duties as assigned, assisting and training others, and performing.

    To ensure success within this role, we are looking for a candidate with the following skillsets and experience...

    Business Experience:

    • 3+ years of underwriting experience or demonstrated knowledge of auto/home insurance policies gained through functional experience.
    • Thorough knowledge of property & casualty insurance products (auto/home) and underwriting procedures required.

    Certifications:

    • Required: API required along with PLCS or AINS Designations.
    • Preferred: CPCU preferred.

    Education:

    • Preferred: BA/BS Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience

    Hybrid with required in office hours Tuesdays and Wednesdays

    Flexible schedule with core business hours 7:00 am to 6:00 pm MST

    The pay range for this position is $59,176-89,190 annually; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills and experience. The company also offers a full range of medical, financial and other benefits, including eligibility for the company's performance sharing plan and paid time off such as holidays, vacation, sick and personal holidays.
