    Sr. Applied Scientist, LLM, Natural Language Shopping, Search Quality

    About the Role:

    We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sr. Applied Scientist to join our team at Amazon.com Services LLC. As a key member of our organization, you will play a pivotal role in transforming Amazon Search using Large Language Models (LLMs).

    Your Impact:

    • You will analyze large-scale datasets to inform your work and drive insights.
    • You will define metrics that accurately reflect customer experience, ensuring our solutions meet the highest standards.
    • You will invent techniques to improve the capabilities of our Large Language Models, including their ability to understand natural language queries, questions, and conversations.
    • You will test your ideas through controlled experiments, refining and iterating on your approaches as needed.
    • You will train, fine-tune, and align Large Language Models (LLMs) to achieve optimal performance.
    • You will distill Large Language Models into Fast Language Models, deploying them at Amazon scale with imperceptible latencies.

    Requirements:

    • A minimum of 3+ years of experience building machine learning models for business applications.
    • A PhD or Master's degree, with 6+ years of applied research experience.
    • Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, C++, Python, or related languages.
    • Experience with neural deep learning methods and machine learning.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience with modeling tools like R, scikit-learn, Spark MLLib, MxNet, TensorFlow, NumPy, SciPy, etc.
    • Experience with large-scale distributed systems like Hadoop, Spark, etc.
