    Our client is a growing, financially-stable, prime General Contractor and Construction Management company headquartered in the Chicago-area. Our client's focus is Commercial Construction work for Municipal and Federal Government clients.

    We are currently seeking a qualified

    Commercial Construction Project Superintendent

    to work onsite at active construction project sites in the Chicago, IL metro area. Under direction from the Senior Project Manager, the

    Commercial Construction Project Superintendent


    provides management oversight for all construction phases of the construction projects onsite including coordinating workers, material, and equipment; ensuring that plans and specifications are being followed; work is proceeding on schedule and within budget; and all work is being conducted in a safe and professional manner.

    As part of the field construction team, the

    Construction Project Superintendent

    interfaces with the Senior Construction Project Manager, Construction Project Engineer and subcontractors.


    The ideal candidate has 5+ years of experience as a Commercial Construction Superintendent with a Commercial General Contractor on construction projects greater than $5M+.

    should have experience in Education and Federal or Government Construction and be able to work effectively as a member of a close-knit team.


    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:


    Responsible for field supervision of all construction disciplines on assigned project, including civil, electrical, carpentry, framing, plumbing, HVAC, roofing, finish work and others, as required.

    Plan, coordinate, direct and supervise all aspects of the day to day field construction operations.

    Define and understand owner's needs and expectations to ensure the success of the project.

    Work collaboratively and effectively with the Senior Project Manager and Project Engineer.

    Communicate with owners and architects about progress and any necessary modifications of plans.

    Conduct onsite and project update meetings with Client, Subcontractors, Architects, Engineers and representatives.


    Develop both long-term and short-term plans/schedules and coordinate daily work of Contractor team members and subcontractors working on various phases of the project.

    Review and understand all contract documents (plans, specifications, testing requirements, as-built requirements, close-out requirements, etc.)

    Oversee, conduct, and document weekly coordination meetings with subcontractors as necessary.

    Prepare accurately and timely daily reports, field documentation and project photographs.


    Regularly review contract documents (plans, specs, shop drawings, manufacturer's installation instruction, etc.) with Contractor team members and subcontractors and to ensure they are being followed.

    Regularly monitor and inspect work being performed to ensure project quality is being achieved.


    Ensure that all construction is compliant with applicable contractual requirements, building codes and other standards, as well as, permitting and inspection processes.

    Plan, coordinate and manage jobsite logistics.

    Oversee safety regulations, quality plan and implement necessary changes.

    Maintain quality and ethical standards.


    POSITION REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:
    Education in Construction, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Architecture or a closely related field. High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate) required.

    OSHA 30-Hour and Quality Control experience.


    5+ years of experience as a Field Construction Superintendent supervising all phases of construction on larger commercial construction projects for a commercial general contractor on larger projects in excess of $10M+.

    Experience in education and/or Federal or Government Construction agencies is required.


    Demonstrated ability to effectively interface, communicate and build relationships with team members and all levels of management on an ongoing basis and work as a trusted construction professional.

    Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.


    Must be able to establish and maintain relationships with, communicate and manage subcontractors and material suppliers on an ongoing basis.

    Ability to read and understand plans, project specifications and shop drawings and understand project scheduling and cost control.

    Excellent organizational and problem solving skills, with the ability to adapt to changing needs.

    Experience and proficiency in all divisions of work, methods, materials, scheduling, and cost control

    Computer skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), MS Project, Procore, SharePoint, Adobe and Bluebeam.

    Demonstrated ability to effectively plan, coordinate, organize, schedule, prioritize and manage multiple tasks to follow-through and meet deadlines. Excellent time management skills

    TEAM RESPONSIBILITY:
    The position is accountable to the company's Senior Project Manager. Responsible for guiding and mentoring junior colleagues, team members, subcontractors and material suppliers.


    POSITION LOCATION AND TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:


    Field based role onsite at the project construction site in either Orland Park, IL and the Near West Side of Chicago, IL.

    Candidate must be able to travel periodically, as required. Must possess a reliable insured vehicle, a valid driver's license and clean driving record.


    RELOCATION ELIGIBILITY:
    No relocation benefits provided. Local, qualified Chicago, IL metro area candidates will be given preference and priority. Qualified candidates willing to self-relocate to the Chicago, IL metro area will also be considered.

    COMPENSATION &


    BENEFITS INFORMATION:

    Base Salary Range:
    $85,000 - $110,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications + discretionary annual bonus.
