- Maintains a professional image and exhibits excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers in accordance with our Service Excellence Standards and Core Values.
- Performs diagnostic procedures to assist the physicians, while adhering to radiation safety policies and functioning as a liaison between the patient and physician.
- Tech will be responsible for administering radiopharmaceuticals to patients by I.V. injection, inhalation or oral administering. Will perform full range of nuclear medicine dynamic, static, SPECT imaging process.
- Maintains compliance with radiation safety policies and documentation requirements for waste disposal and administration of radiopharmaceuticals.
- Explains procedures to the patients. Communicates patient's status and information to the appropriate physician.
- Identifies and insures quality control measures for imaging and surveying equipment, dosing and radiation safety monitors recording results.
- Assists in maintaining laboratory inventory and ordering supplies. Verifies scan quality and performs computer image and data processing. Calculates quantity of radiopharmaceutical activity and volume to be administered during procedures. Assays specimens and prepares standards in scintillation counting systems, performs calibration record results. Schedules patients for exams.
- Training and/or experience in techniques of radiation safety, radiopharmaceuticals preparation and computer processing techniques for patient examinations and demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills are required. This position works with physicians, all support staff, patients, and outside advisors and business contacts on a variety of issues. All information must be handled in a CONFIDENTIAL manner.
- Completion of a formal Nuclear Medicine Training program approved by the AMA and current license as a Radiologic Technologist in the State of South Carolina.
