Position OverviewThis position will provide comprehensive engineering technical support to Proterra's Manufacturing Manager, Manufacturing Controls Engineering Manager, Manufacturing Test Engineer, and other site leadership team members.
The Associate Controls Engineer is responsible for working with engineering and operations teams to develop and tune processes as well as build new equipment to specification.
The role will include collaboration with both internal and external partners, taking on this hands-on role.About the Role
Support the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering team in building complex mechanical and electrical assembliesBe the controls and test configuration expert on assigned contractsInstall, program, and repair automation controlsImplement and maintain tests that ensure quality and functionality of battery packsPrepare and deliver build documentation to the production floor under strict deadlinesTroubleshoot battery production equipment when necessaryFocus on continuous improvement implementation in your area of responsibilityDrive and implement continuous improvement ideas.
Maintain state-of-the-art knowledge of controls, testing technology, and practicesTrain controls technicians when neededOther duties as assigned by managementAbout Our Group:

Your Experience Includes:
Associates Degree in a Robotics, Controls or Testing field3+ years of experience within the manufacturing or industrial environmentProficient in PLC programming using RSLogix 5000Fanuc Robotics Programming is a plusIgnition MES experience is a plusHMI ConfigurationProficient with MS Office applicationsExperience with manufacturing and/or testing EVs is a plusKnowledge of electrical schematic and prints with experience in AutoCAD
Physical Demands:
May work various shifts if needed; may be requested to travel to different locations for training and acceptance testing.
Able to lift 25 pounds and occasionally 50 pounds.
Able to walk, stand, crouch, bench, kneel, lift, carry and reach as needed in large and tight spaces.
Good eye/hand coordination and ability to identify color variations, depth perceptions and close or distance visual items.
Manual dexterity with occasional repetitive finger motion.
Environmental Demands:
Ability to work in manufacturing environment with extreme heat and cold conditions.
Wear protective clothing or respiratory protective equipment.
Works with irritant chemicals, gases, etc.
