Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment such as Hoyer lifts and other assistive devices
- Monitor and record vital signs accurately, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates
- Support patient care plans by providing emotional support and ensuring comfort during treatments or procedures
- Document patient information thoroughly in electronic health record (EHR) systems like Epic or Cerner, maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Collaborate with healthcare teams in specialized areas such as ICU, emergency medicine, geriatrics, dementia care, hospice, or behavioral health to deliver tailored care
- Assist with medical procedures including catheter care, wound dressing changes, phlebotomy (blood draws), and medication administration under supervision
- Maintain aseptic techniques and infection control protocols to ensure patient safety in all clinical activities
Requirements
- Valid certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in accordance with state regulations
- Experience working in diverse healthcare environments such as hospitals (including Level I Trauma Centers or Level II Trauma Centers), nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or outpatient clinics
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and basic life support (BLS) certification preferred
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems like Epic, Cerner, eClinicalWorks or similar platforms for accurate documentation
- Ability to work effectively with individuals with disabilities or developmental challenges and provide specialized dementia or Alzheimer's care when needed
- Strong communication skills and a compassionate approach to patient service
- Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and assist with lifting or transferring patients safely
