    OverviewElectric Boat Nondestructive Test (NDT) Engineering is seeking a motivated individual to join its NDT New Technologies Team.

    The NDT Engineering New Technologies Team leads research & development (R&D) efforts to test and implement emerging NDT methods (e.g.

    Phased-Array Ultrasonic Testing, Computed Radiography, etc.) for use in Electric Boat's Quonset Point and Groton shipyards.

    The successful candidate will work with cross-functional teams - including Electric Boat's Navy customer - to lead R&D test programs through completion.

    The NDT Engineering New Technologies Team serves a critical and exciting role to lead complex projects, introduce advanced technologies into submarine construction, and positively impact cost, schedule, and quality across the enterprise.

    ResponsibilitiesThe successful candidate will be tasked with the following responsibilities:
    Identify commercially available technologies that may be tested and tailored to existing Navy shipbuilding specifications or used to develop new Navy shipbuilding specification requirementsIntegrate with existing team of approximately five (5)

    NDT Engineers and support existing project taskingDevelop R&D project proposals, test plans, and schedulesInterface with and lead cross-functional teams of Engineers, NDT Level III Examiners, and submarine construction subject matter experts (SMEs)Provide guidance to team-members and Electric Boat Management regarding NDT New Technology projectsParticipate in Electric Boat Senior Management briefs regarding NDT New Technology implementation strategiesInterface with Electric Boat's Navy customer and gain alignment on project scope, funding, testing, and shipyard implementation strategiesSupport special-projects tasking for Manager of NDT Engineering related to shipyard NDT execution and/or risk managementQualificationsRequired:
    Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Applied Mathematics, or PhysicsInternal candidate(s) must be from organizations outside of operations (Casciano/Gabriel)

    Preferred:
    Master of Science or Ph.
    D degree with demonstrated research focus related to NDTPrevious leadership or supervisory experienceExperience in the Naval shipbuilding or regulatory market spaceActive or previous NDT Level II or III certificationsExperience interfacing with Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA)Research & development experienceExperience with statistics or data analyticsSkillsExcellent verbal and written communicationAbility to work in a collaborative team environmentSelf-motivatedAbility to transform abstract data into actionable recommendations and plansWell organizedAbility to identify risks and opportunitiesAbility to manage concurrent tasks#J-18808-Ljbffr
