    POSITION SUMMARY:


    The Chief Academic Officer Campus Director is senior leader for all academic services and is responsible for leading New Heights students and staff in an environment that fosters excellent outcomes for students.

    This position serves as a first impression of New Heights during the initial process of recruiting students and community partners.

    This position oversees all components of the academic experience for students and instructional practices of staff, including the college and career experience and advancement guiding the process for continuous improvement including data analysis, needs assessment, implementation and evaluation.

    The CAO Campus Director will establish and maintain an inspirational and comprehensive vision of academics with student outcome goals that align with the needs of the campus and remain aligned with the New Heights Board, Superintendent and District priorities.

    Additionally, this individual is the principal leader for the flagship campus and is responsible for leading the Campus team's operations, activities, and processes.

    This position will leverage all federal, state, and local programs, grants and initiatives required by the Texas Education Agency and provide support to the academic team implementing teacher-led curriculum development, current instructional methodologies, relevant and on-going professional development while ensuring academic programs are aligned with Texas Adult Accountability Standards and adequately prepare students for state assessments, post-secondary education, and/or enhanced personal and professional growth.

    The CAO Campus Director will lead the development and implementation of the campus evaluation process, including the communication, training and staff evaluation.

    This position will model the spirit of the New Heights culture and serve as a model for all students and staff.


    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Academic Accountability and Instruction

    Provide leadership and guidance to all campus staff and oversee the instructional operations of the campus.


    Monitor the development and accurate reporting of all State accountability requirements in alignment with Texas Education Agency requirements and the Effective Schools Framework (ESF) Diagnostic.

    Analyze student academic achievement data including disaggregation of data to ensure equity and support for all students.

    Implement, evaluate and oversee all academic-related initiatives.

    Lead school instructional teams in creating collaborative and equitable learning environments for students and staff.


    Promote and support student outcome goals aligned with the needs of the campus and remain aligned with the New Heights Board, Superintendent and District priorities.

    Oversee the acquisition, creation, implementation, and evaluation of all academic programs and curriculum, including college and career initiatives.


    Ensure alignment of all academic offerings and student instruction with the college and career partnership programs to achieve excellent student outcomes.


    Continually improve student performance, instructional rigor and increase the capacity and promotion of instructional staff to grow and operate as leaders within the school community while aligning academic programs with college and career programs.


    Coordinate with New Heights teams to facilitate the collection, analysis, interpretation, and dissemination of student data including state and local assessment data for continuous improvement and program evaluation purposes.

    Leadership, Evaluation and Professional Development

    Set clear expectations and goals for all campus staff in alignment with the New Heights mission and vision.


    Provide coaching and support to staff, focusing on instructional leadership, New Heights culture, data analysis, data-driven decision-making, and community engagement.


    Provide high-quality professional development, teacher observations, instructional planning, engaging and relevant lessons, content implementation strategies, and the integration of data analysis to improve the effectiveness of instruction and drive positive student outcomes.


    Develop and communicate a calendar of staff evaluations to evaluate performance and progress, providing constructive feedback, support, and assistance in identified areas for improvement.

    Develop the New Heights annual professional development calendar and academic curriculum, including summer professional development opportunities and curriculum refinement.

    Conduct teacher evaluations.


    Ensure the implementation of the New Heights curriculum at a high level by leading high-quality professional development, providing opportunities for staff to observe peers, collaborative plan, and provide model lessons and other implementation strategies in an effort to develop team members through the analyzation of data to improve instruction.


    Develop and implement campus policies and procedures aligned with the spirit of New Heights and in support of state requirements.

    Monitor campus-level administrative operations.

    School Relations & Culture

    Create a safe, orderly, and purposeful campus climate hospitable to education.


    Communicate expectations for high levels of performance to students and staff; provide and nurture effective communication between the school and the community; respond promptly to staff, student, and community communication; promote student and community involvement in the school, including site-based committees, student/teacher/staff organizations, booster clubs, and other opportunities.


    Encourage active involvement in the decision-making process by fostering collegiality and team building with employees; implement activities to recognize employees' efforts and accomplishments.


    Effectively communicate and represent the mission to stakeholders and external audiences and oversee the recruitment of students to sustain and expand the school.

    Administrative/Fiscal/Facilities Management

    Implement and administer District and campus policies and procedures that follow all federal, state, and local regulations.


    Develop, implement, and monitor the academic and campus operating budget; oversee the use of campus resources; operate within the budget.

    Continually monitor the effectiveness of campus programs in achieving established goals and objectives.


    Assure that emergency and crisis plans are developed, communicated, implemented, and practiced; manage school facilities and equipment effectively to ensure a safe, clean, and orderly building with maximization of space; work closely with District personnel and contractors regarding completion of any necessary repairs or renovations of the building.

    Provide reports, data, and all required information promptly and accurately, ensuring the proper maintenance of student records.

    Coordinate with district teams to develop and monitor plans for meeting State accountability measures.


    OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
    Serve as a member of the Superintendent's Leadership team.

    Attend New Heights board meetings/work sessions prepared to present campus updates for the Board of Directors as requested.


    Conduct and collaborate with district and campus staff with the initial outreach efforts to recruit potential students and community partnership engagement events throughout the school year (periodically at nights and on weekends).

    Foster a campus atmosphere of collegiality among teams by:

    providing opportunities for active involvement in the decision-making process by all team members;

    effectively communicating expectations for high performance to staff, hold all team members accountable to the New Heights spirit and established campus goals;

    recognizing the achievements of staff;

    providing an atmosphere resulting in the quick resolution of conflicts among team members.

    Model and promote effective communication and collaboration among team members to enhance student and staff satisfaction.


    Comply with all policies established by federal and state law, including, but not limited to, State Board of Education and local Board policy.


    Participate in the development, preparation, implementation and evaluation of a student-focused budget mindful of district priorities and campus needs and maintain a positive budget.

    Perform other duties as assigned to support the success of New Heights.


    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:


    This position has supervisory responsibilities over the Teaching staff, Curriculum and Instruction Coach, CTE/IBC Coordinator, and Advising Coach at New Heights.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS &


    EXPERIENCE:
    Master's degree from an accredited college or university.

    Texas Teaching Certification.

    Five years' experience as a classroom teacher.

    Texas Principal Certification

    (or commitment to obtain within 1 year of hire).

    Certified Texas Principal (T-PESS) and Teacher (T-TESS) Evaluation & Support System appraiser

    (or commitment to obtain within 90 days of hire).

    Working knowledge of the Effective Schools Framework.

    Working knowledge of Texas educational requirements and practices, curriculum, assessment, instructional coaching, and the state accountability system.


    Ability to oversee, coordinate, and influence team members in a proactive, solution-focused manner, focused on a positive first impression when speaking with potential students and community partners.


    Strong sense of professionalism, administrative ability, systemic understanding of developing adult relationships, building trust while utilizing socioemotional approaches, and effective communication/interpersonal skills with adults seeking a return to the educational environment.


    Superior leadership, supervisory, organizational, verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to remain calm when handling multiple tasks effectively.


    Experience working with adults age 18-50 in urban, non-traditional, and/or adult education setting; Possess understanding of marginalization and how it impacts an individual and the community; Display respect for diversity of thought and have experience implementing thoughtful collaboration within a team and the New Heights community.

    A valid Texas driver's license is required. This position will require periodic travel to locations in the Greater Dallas/Fort Worth area.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS &


    EXPERIENCE:
    Five years' experience as a campus principal, district instructional department leader, lead/department chair, or instructional coach.

    Experience in PTECH or Early College High Schools
