Department: Inpatient Float Pool

Position Summary:

Provide direct nursing care to patients consistent with clinical specialty, serving as a role model to promote a positive work environment and quality patient care
Ensure adherence to hospital and department policies and procedures
Minimum four shifts per schedule required, including two weekend shifts and one summer and one winter holiday
Patient care assignments may include neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric

Detailed Responsibilities:

Deliver safe direct care to assigned patients
Work within hospital policies, nursing division, and departmental policies while implementing and documenting individualized care plans
Assist with special tests and procedures, ensuring proper consent has been obtained
Participate in orientation, preceptor training, and evaluation duties of new personnel
Administer medication, including IV medication, via the Seven Rights; document and communicate clinical findings
Maintain a safe and comfortable environment for patients/families in accordance with hospital standards
Continually participate in educational programs to enhance professional growth and development
Encourage patient participation in their own care
Adhere to core expectations of the Patient Centered Medical Home or Patient Centered Specialty Practice as applicable

Qualifications:

Program graduate of a nationally accredited nursing program
Bachelor's degree in nursing preferred
Minimum 1 year directly related experience
CPR for Healthcare/BLS certification required
RN certification in NM or as allowed by reciprocal agreement by NM required

Credentials:

Nationally certified in area of specialty, PALS, TNCC and/or ENPC certification preferred but not required

Physical Conditions:

Heavy Work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people

Working Conditions:

May come into contact with hazardous materials, personal protective equipment required
