    PRIMARY FUNCTION:

    This position will be responsible to lead a cross-functional team consisting of production planning, production supervision, manufacturing engineering, continuous improvement, and maintenance, within the Cedar Falls Viking Pump Operations organization. Utilizing the principles of 80/20 and lean manufacturing, the Value Stream Director will align resources within the Value-stream to drive impact on Customer Obsession and team engagement while delivering to business profitability. They will be responsible for the development and execution of a future state vision that aligns operational capabilities with strategic growth initiatives. They will drive improvements within Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Lead Time reductions.

    PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Achieve all safety, quality, delivery, engagement and productivity initiatives to deliver year of year improvements on an annual basis.
  • Through partnership with the safety team, Develop and lead safety improvements within the value stream focused on the highest impact areas of risk within the value stream, and lead with a safety-first mindset.
  • Drive engagement and accountability to all policies and procedures through servant leadership and Gemba deployment.
  • Conduct effective change management process and communication plans ensuring proper involvement of key stakeholders of change.
  • Work collaboratively, across multiple stakeholders, to solve operational issues.
  • Direct plant layout and arrangement of equipment to optimize production processes within the value stream.
  • Understand and apply the financial levers of the business to assess opportunities and cost implications.
  • Facilitate the performance management process for all direct reports including leadership effectiveness and career development opportunities.
  • Improve employee engagement while driving performance accountability with direct reports through the utilization of situational leadership.
  • Provide a work environment which adheres to all compliance and regulatory guidelines.
  • Partner across organizational functions including, but not limited to safety, quality, human resources, finance and continuous improvement to create a best-in-class Operations and one team mentality.
  • Establish a strong working relationship with Bargaining Unit employees and leaders.
  • Identify and lead improvements to meet cost, operational and financial objectives.
  • Builds people and team capability through effective employee relations, hiring, training and communication across all levels of the organization.
  • Apply analytical skills to assess operational and financial data to identify opportunities and accurately assess impact to the organization.
  • Identify and apply key performance indicators to measure success and understand operational capacity relative to customer demand.
  • Manage other duties or projects as assigned.
  • QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required. Preferably in Business, Engineering, Operations Management or similar field.
  • Minimum ten (10) years' experience in manufacturing/operations required.
  • Experience in lean manufacturing and change management.
  • Demonstrated servant leadership behaviors to influence and manage people/teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a challenging, results oriented environment.
  • Ability to influence and create followership with others.
  • Strong initiative, excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Effectively communicate with employees at all levels of the organization, enlisting the needed cooperation for successful implementation of programs and other measures needed to meet performance standards.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office products including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to move within office and manufacturing complex, write by hand and keyboard, and perform general office functions.
  • Ability to communicate by speech and hearing via phone and in person.
  • Visual acuity needed for close detail work and computer use.
  • General manufacturing, warehouse and office environment.
