    We are currently looking for highly motivated and dependable Engineering Technicians to provide vital support for our civil engineering consulting and testing services. This hands-on position involves conducting field and laboratory testing on construction materials, such as soil, concrete, and masonry, adhering to ASTM standards. Technicians will be responsible for ensuring construction activities meet project specifications and accurately documenting observations. Strong candidates will be committed to quality, safety, and professionalism in dynamic environments, as the role requires physical stamina, compliance with safety protocols, reliable transportation, and the capacity to obtain industry certifications, including ACI, ICC, and OSHA.

    Requirements:

    Education: A high school diploma or GED is required for this position.

    • Certification: Candidates must obtain and maintain relevant ACI, ICC, and OSHA certifications, as well as any other certifications determined necessary by their supervisor.
    Pre-employment Requirements:
    • Drug Testing: All applicants will undergo a drug test as part of the hiring process. Employees are expected to adhere to Geo-Hydro Engineers' Drug-Free Workplace Substance Abuse Policy.
    • Driving Record: A valid driver's license with no violations that would preclude insurance coverage through the company's insurance carrier is required. The carrier regularly reviews employees' driving records.
    Responsibilities:
    • Observation: Technicians should observe construction work to ensure compliance with project specifications and applicable International Building Code requirements.
    • Testing: Technicians are responsible for performing field and laboratory tests on materials such as soil, stone, concrete, and masonry in accordance with ASTM standards.
    • Documentation: It is essential to accurately document field observations and test results in clear, legible English using proper grammar and basic mathematical skills.
    • Safety: Technicians must wear suitable personal protective equipment (PPE), attend safety training sessions, and adhere to the guidelines outlined in the Geo-Hydro Safety and Health Manual.
    Physical Requirements:
    • Ability to lift, load, and carry samples weighing up to 100 pounds.
    • Required to maneuver a 6-cubic foot wheelbarrow loaded with pounds of concrete over uneven terrain.
    • Engagement in unit weight testing, which involves lifting various concrete samples and equipment.
    • Required to perform repeated maneuvers for testing, including lifting and dropping, involving weights up to 30 pounds.
    • Ability to use tools like a mattock and shovel for excavation purposes.
    • Manual operation of a hand auger and dynamic cone penetrometer, requiring lifting and pulling up to 50 pounds.
