- Analyze and consolidate financial data (budgets, partner compensation models, practice group profitability reports, etc.) to assess the firm's financial health and alignment with strategic goals.
- Develop and recommend cost-saving strategies specific to the legal industry, such as optimizing partner compensation models or streamlining billing practices.
- Construct and present insightful reports summarizing key performance indicators (KPIs) like profitability by practice group, client matter realization rates, and overall firm leverage.
- Build financial models tailored to the Am Law 200 landscape, considering factors like lateral hiring, client concentration, and litigation contingencies.
- Conduct benchmarking analyses to compare the firm's performance against industry peers and identify areas for improvement.
- Partner with practice groups to understand their financial needs and provide data-driven recommendations to support business development efforts.
- Monitor actual results against forecasts for key metrics like partner distributions and overall revenue to identify variances and potential risks.
- Analyze law firm-specific general ledger accounts, such as WIP (work in progress) and unbilled receivables, to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Stay up-to-date on legal industry trends and best practices in financial management for law firms.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (required).
- Familiarity with the legal industry financial metrics or professional service firms (a plus).
- Proficiency in spreadsheets (Excel) with strong financial modeling skills.
- Experience with financial databases and data analysis tools like OLAP cubes (preferred).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex financial information clearly and concisely.
