POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Accountant
III
supports the
Finance Manager
in the
financial management
of the organization and
is responsible for
the
g
eneral
l
edger
m
aintenance and fund accounting support functions.
The Senior
Accountant
III
is
an integral role in the
financial management
of the
organization and
assist
s
in the analysis,
prepa
ration
,
development
,
reporting
,
forecasting and analysis of revenue and expenses
.
Additionally,
the Senior Accountant
III
is responsible for
analyzing expenses, processing the monthly shared and administrative cost allocations
,
creat
ing
monthly expenses reimbursement reports to
government
funders
and overseeing cash and asset management
.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
General Ledger
Responsible for trial balances, general ledgers, and other balance sheet account reconciliations; this includes monthly close and reconciliation of financials, includes analysis.
Assist Finance Manager in preparing audit schedules, audit preparatory material, and support onsite work.
Budget, Reporting and Analysis
Assist
Senior
Director of Finance & Accounting
in
preparing individual program budgets as needed for expense allocation and invoicing.
Assist
and backup the
Director of Finance & Accounting
with developing the CARBON budget and the mid-year forecast.
Prepare the FTE allocation details for invoicing all contracts and grants.
Prepare
processing monthly shared and administrative cost allocations and
maintain
agency cost allocation plan.
Assist
and act as backup to prepare monthly
organizational financial statements
;
submit
electronic reports to
state
and City Government Funders.
Program and Grant Invoicing
Create and
submit
monthly expense reimbursement reports for government contracts and grants source using the format required by the funder.
Process CACFP (Nutrition program) transmittal and invoicing.
Closely
monitor
grant and contract performance for fiscal compliance with grant terms and effective expenditure of all funds by end of fiscal and/or grant period.
Cash and Asset Management
Reconcile all agency bank accounts and prepare adjusting journal entries as needed to balance G/L to bank accounts.
Reconcile Contracts advances and balances.
Prepare reporting on restricted & unrestricted funds for departments, and for management to track the availably and
utilization
of funds.
Assist the
Finance Manager
in preparing and updating annual cash-flow forecast for funder.
Analyze and record
capital purchase and disposition list, conduct physical inventory, and
maintain
organization's fixed asset inventory list.
Act as a backup for monthly reconciliation with Advancement to ensure that donor restrictions, processes, and policies involving funds under their management are reflected correctly in accounting system of record.
Tasks
Lead annual 1099 preparation for all organizational vendors and providers.
Maintain all agency vendor contracts, including subcontracted services, lease etc.
Act as a backup for Accounts Receivable
,
Accounts Payable
and Payroll Processing functions
as needed.
Cross train with Finance staff to support as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Requires
Bachelor's
degree, preferably in
accounting,
financial analysis, or related
business
administration
field
.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in working in accounting or finance.
Experience and knowledge of accounting principles for government-funded non-profit organizations a plus
.
Knowledge of fund accounting is
required
.
Understanding of U.S. G.A.A.P.
Knowledge of medium to large
scaled
computerized accounting
system
such as Sage MIP.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet multiple deadlines under minima
l
supervision.
Advanced Excel skills.
Excellent communications skills, both written and oral
.
Ability to communicate clearly with co-workers, department managers, and outside funders.
Interest in supporting the work of a non-profit.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Mental acuity to perform the essential functions of this position in an accurate and timely fashion.
Dexterity to use office equipment; the ability to sit and work at a desk for extended periods of time.
Ability to speak, hear, and understand speech at normal room levels.
Physical agility to bend, stoop, walk, climb four flights of stairs if
required
.

Hybrid Work
We have adopted a hybrid working model and currently require employees to be present in the office
at least
3 days per week, with the
option
to work 2 days per week remotely. There are a few roles where the hybrid schedule is not conducive. Similarly, there are a few positions that
operate
100% remotely. All applicants should be comfortable with both the remote and in office scenarios.
