    Duties

    As a LEAD AUDIOVISUAL PRODUCTION SPECIALIST at the GS-1071-12 some of your typical work assignments may include:
    • Provides direction and oversight on media production matters.
    • Responsible for day-to-day planning and execution of live, field/remote, and studio produced television and audio-visual products, as assigned, created at DMA.
    • Directs and manages live and field produced television broadcasting/recording, studio and control room facilities and the associated equipment assets at a level equal to that of major networks in the commercial broadcast television industry.
    • Manage operations and allocation and execution of funding IAW DMA and DoD policy.
    • Manage large inventory records and utilizes asset management software and systems to maintain property control over inventory IAW industry, DoD policy, and DMA standards.
    • Prepares procurement packages for the Production Services Division for television and audio-visual services and equipment.
    • Develops, establishes and communicates performance standards; provides team members with the tools, training and authority they need to be successful in their jobs and holds them accountable for their performance.
    • Understands, determines and oversees the transmissions and routes of live and pre-recorded products from source to destination.

    Qualifications

    You may qualify at the GS-12, if you fulfill the following qualifications:

    One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service:
    • Operating a variety of audio and visual production equipment, utilizing emerging trends in technology to execute complex, multi-faceted live and recorded media productions. This includes but is not limited to: cameras, microphones, switchers, routers, audio boards, computer graphics systems and camera sharing systems;
    • Using independent judgment in determining the most appropriate method of coverage to convey the client's message, themes, and strategies;
    • Leading a team of civilian and military members while prioritizing multiple tasks, meeting strict deadlines, developing standards, overseeing schedules and inventories, and conducting training;
    • Ensuring clear communication of expectations and outcomes between clients, the team, leadership, and relevant stakeholders.
    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

    In addition to meeting qualifications, your application package must reflect the applicable experience to meet the Individual Occupational Requirements for the 1071 series.

Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major studyphotography, radio or television production, motion picture production, or other fields related to the position.Advanced training in a vocational school, technical institute, or art institute above the high school level in one of the fields listed above is creditable as general experience on a month-for-month basis.
