The Business Intelligence Analyst is responsible for gathering data from enterprise and adhoc sources to prepare and organize it in efficient information mart-type data models to provide ad hoc reporting, data analysis and creating dashboards as needed for the operation success of the USO Development and Marketing Enterprise.
The Business Intelligence Analyst will use tools, techniques, and best practices to effectively extract value and insights to develop quality reporting deliverables, and effective reporting throughout the department.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential Duties)Drive return on investment in USO's data infrastructure to produce data-informed insights more reliably and rapidly.
Develop frameworks and deliver analyses to lead executive-level decision-making and prioritization across the organization.
Collect and query data from different sources such as the enterprise data lake and data lake house databases, spreadsheets, and file exports from software applications to enhance insights, process data leveraging statistical packages, and create tools and models to identify donor and revenue trends, primarily through an Azure Databricks, Microsoft PowerBI, & Microsoft Excel based ecosystem.
Develop and lead internal data fluency training efforts and new user training for data analytics tools.
Develop and maintain documentation such as data dictionaries, data models, data workflows, user guides and working instructions to define a common language across Development teams and support the creation of curated master data sets used for effective cross-team / cross-data source reporting.
At times reports will need to be adjusted or updated to fit the changing needs of the department, while considering for specific requests in data.
Responsible for interpreting organizational needs and presenting data in a way that will drive successful organizational decisions.Expected to support reviewing and testing files for compatibility and stability, often working with large data sets.
Expected to remain inquisitive and forward-thinking in technology integration, reporting platforms, individual records management, and overall approaches to information accuracy, in order to support the long-term growth in data maturity at the Organization.
Cross-collaboration with the Department of Information Technology to ensure reporting and operational redundancies for institutional continuity.Collaborate with other teams to ensure data quality, integrity, accuracy, and consistency. Identify and resolve data issues in partnership with technical owners, system owners, and data stewards.
Apply statistical, descriptive, and other analytical techniques in conjunction with USO's standard tools and technology to interpret data, uncover patterns, trends, and correlations that lead executive-level decision-making and prioritization across the organization.
Ideate, design, develop, test, and maintain clear, concise, and actionable interactive reports, dashboards, and visualizations to effectively present findings and insights to business leaders and decision makers.
Makes edits in Database to ensure accurate data while validating reports that have been written.
Collaborates with cross-functional teams to refine data collection processes, increase end-to-end data quality, and improve overall organizational BI capabilities.

Job Specifications
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Information/Data Sciences, or closely related field.
5+ years of proven experience as a Data Analyst, Business Intelligence Analyst, or similar role in the data management field with full understanding and practice of the reporting analytics from design to implementation.
3+ years of hands-on experience using SQL for querying data and the Power BI (PBI) platform (both PBI Desktop and PBI Services) to extract, model, and report data.
3+ years of hands-on experience using Microsoft Power BI and creating dashboards.
Proven experience with statistics and data modeling for the purposes of data analysis and forecasting, as well as ability to present results and methods in a meaningful way for operational and business planning.
Experience working with large datasets and databases. Preferably from data lakes and lake houses.
Experience with star-schema data modeling for information marts.
Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
Must show initiative, self-motivation, creativity, and desire to innovate with strong attention to detail and quality.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills with the ability to communicate complex findings to non-technical stakeholders in simple ways and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal, customer service and problem-solving skills. Ability to articulate and translate technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
Must show initiative, self-motivation, desire to innovate, and attention to detail and quality.
Ability to obtain and maintain proper credentials necessary to access USO Center locations and facilities including but not limited to security, credit and/or background screening, SOFA status, valid driver's license.

This position is a remote position.
USO locations will adhere to local area and DOD guidelines regarding COVID vaccination/testing requirements. Employees may be required to be vaccinated or tested regularly per local requirements.
