    Under the direction of the Quality Manager, the Sanitation Supervisor is responsible for ensuring a high standard of sanitation and good manufacturing practices within the sanitation program at the plant. In addition, the Sanitation Supervisor will develop, monitor, maintain and improve the facility sanitation program by identifying issues affecting efficiencies and assisting in developing solutions.

    Key responsibilities for this position include:

    • Monitors, audits, and adjusts the cleaning systems/procedures to ensure optimal cleanliness of processing lines, packaging lines, and surrounding areas.
    • Partners with management and production personnel to troubleshoot sanitation problems; recommending changes to improve sanitation policies, procedures, and cleaning effectiveness.
    • Performs comprehensive sanitation audits on each unique production process to determine sanitation effectiveness.
    • Serves as the technical resource for the facility on sanitation and pest control programs.
    • Ensures the necessary sanitation supervision and resources are available to fully support the operation.
    • Develops and executes plans to increase cleaning effectiveness in addition to identifying & implementing opportunities to reduce cost within the operation.
    • Analyzes data and trends related to cleaning verification and validation activities, triggering appropriate corrective and preventive actions to ensure adherence to product food safety and quality requirements.
    • Implements and promotes chemical/sanitation safety programs and safe work practices through active participation in safety meetings, safety tours, and involvement with teams. Initiates action and follow-up on all chemical/sanitation safety concerns/issues. Ensures their team clearly understands all safety rules and regulations, has received appropriate training, and that their work performance is in accordance with all applicable regulations.
    • Develops employee, food safety and sanitation programs and ensures programs are adhered to, and executed with excellence by all sanitation personnel.
    • Partners with the Quality Manager to develop and oversee the department's operating budget, ensuring that proper procedures are followed, and expenses are within budgeted guidelines.
    • Evaluates, investigates, and places corrective actions on all chemical over usages.
    • Emphasizes sanitation opportunities in production areas by communicating and training production personnel on sanitation issues.
    • Validates chemical titrations by creating effective validation programs.
    • Develops, promotes, and supports all continuous improvement initiatives within the facility.
    • Responsible for the development of sanitation personnel through effective training, succession planning, performance reviews and accountability.
    • Accountable for the Quality Risk Management Process (QRMP) standards as outlined in the plant's QRMP accountability document, including the implementation, improvement, and ongoing maintenance.
    • Maintains a close partnership with the cross functional team at the plant. Works with other departments to achieve overall company objectives.
    • Alerts senior management on major issues.
    • Manage, train, and develop direct reporting team members through mentoring, coaching and coordination of individual development plans. Provide performance feedback on an ongoing basis. Partner with HR on employee relations issues that involve safety.
    • Shares and promotes best practices throughout the organization.

    Requirements

    Qualified applicants will contribute the following:

    • Bachelor's degree in microbiology, Food or Animal Science, Engineering or a related field required.
    • 3+ years supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment required.
    • 3 years food manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
    • Experience working within a USDA facility preferred.
    • Sanitation (CIP) experience required.
    • Strong communication & leadership skills
    • Strong accountability and drive for results
    • Strong desire to train, coach, and develop others to improve performance
    • Strong analytical/critical thinking
    • Ability to work effectively with a wide array of plant personnel ranging from hourly employees to senior leadership.
    • Ability to travel up to 10% and/or work extended/off-work hours.
