    Pay Rate:
    $ $17.00 /hourly

    This position does NOT require you to have a CDL.

    The Driver/Companion at Episcopal SeniorLife Communities (ESLC) plays a dual role in providing safe transportation and companionship to residents, ensuring their well-being, comfort, and independence within our community.

    This position entails driving residents to various destinations, assisting with errands, and offering companionship and support during their outings. Additionally, the role involves providing non-medical assistance and social interaction to help residents thrive in their own apartments.

    Essential Job Functions:

    • Safely transport residents to and from appointments, activities, and errands, following all driving regulations and ESLC policies.
    • Assist residents with boarding and exiting vehicles, ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the journey.
    • Coordinate transportation schedules and adjust them as needed in cooperation with staff, residents, and families.
    • Provide companionship and social interaction during transportation, encouraging participation in activities and fostering a sense of community.
    • Assist with personal tasks such as laundry, meal preparation, grocery shopping, and other errands as requested by residents.
    • Maintain cleanliness and upkeep of vehicles, conducting routine pre-checks and reporting any issues to supervisors promptly.
    • Communicate effectively with residents, families, staff, and visitors, providing updates and relevant information as needed.
    • Uphold the core values of ESLC, including compassion, dedication, friendliness, innovation, and respect in all interactions.
    • Adhere to safety protocols and procedures, actively participating in fire drills and emergency preparedness activities.
    • Maintain confidentiality of resident information and adhere to all organizational policies and procedures.
    Requirements

    Qualifications:

    • Valid New York State driver's license with a clean driving record.
    • High school diploma or equivalent education required.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact courteously with residents, families, and staff.
    • Experience or interest in working with older adults preferred.
    • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and perform physical tasks related to transportation and companion services.
    • Flexibility to work occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
    • Commitment to providing compassionate care and support to seniors in a residential setting.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, and walking.
    • Specific vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, and color vision required.
    • Must be able to sit, talk, and hear for extended periods.

    Working Conditions:

    • Majority of duties performed indoors and within resident areas where universal precautions apply.
    • Exposure to indoor temperature fluctuations may occur.
    • Work environment may involve occasional exposure to drafts and temperature changes.

    Supervisory Relationship:

    • Work is performed within established guidelines with periodic supervision.
    • Employee exercises initiative and independent judgment to effectively perform job duties.

    Safety Responsibilities:

    • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
    • Participate in fire drills and emergency preparedness activities.
    • Maintain confidentiality of resident information and adhere to all organizational policies.
