Job Description

Medical Laboratory Scientists (MLS) play a critical role in analyzing blood and body fluids using automated and manual methods. The MLS at Orlando Health is responsible for verifying routine results, performing quality control procedures, and communicating critical results to patient caregivers.

Responsibilities:

Verify routine results and quality control data for accuracy and reliability.
Perform, evaluate, and document quality control, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting procedures.
Communicate critical results to patient caregivers.
Regularly report unusual findings to immediate supervisors.
Maintain compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.

Requirements:

Bachelor's or Associate's degree required.
Successful completion of clinical laboratory training internship.
Current Florida license as a Medical Technologist in the specialty or specialties required by the laboratory section(s) assigned.
National Certification such as ASCP, AAB, or AMT preferred.
Dependent on level: Level I - None, Level II - One year minimum, Level III - Two years minimum, Senior - Three years minimum.
