    • UnionLocation:Children's Specialized Hospital (CSH),2840 Morris Avenue, Union, NJ 07083Job Summary Responsible for the administrative and clinical oversight of the nursing care functions in the medical practices for children with special needs and medical complexity with assistance from the Director as needed.
    Works collaboratively with the Director of Outpatient Operations to ensure best practice standards and clinical development of department|staff. Upholds the Service Excellence Standards and values of the organization to lead department|staff. Exemplifies these values in every interaction with patients, families, staff, and colleagues both internal and external.

    Assures the medical practice(s) adheres to policies and procedures and regulations of JCAHO, DOH, Licensing bodies, OSHA, and other regulatory bodies.

    Essential Job Functions Coordinates consistent practices and flow with the Medical Practice.

    Assures that the site adheres to policies and procedures and regulation of TJC, DOH, Licensing bodies, OSHA, and other regulatory bodies.

    Ensures clinical staff coverage for RNs and CMAs at the site for the practice(s) by identifying coverage resource and maintaining coverage calendar.

    Collaborates with Nursing Supervisor(s) at other sites when needed.
    Ensures coverage for Prescription Coordinators if applicable at the site while collaborating with the RN Prescription Supervisor.

    Participates in the interviewing, hiring, APRs and performance improvement process for the RN and CMA staff throughout the practice(s) at the site.

    Consistently appraises clinical performance and learning need through evaluation of staff.
    Performs routine quality checks. Handles customer service issues and is responsible to make sure department upholds Service Excellence standards at all interactions.
    Takes an active role in reviewing Press Ganey survey and performs follow-up.
    Responsible for interview|hiring of new staff.
    Responsible for orienting new staff to dept. procedures, provides clinical supervision to staff, ensures staff meet dept. expectations.
    Responsible for PI process, 90 day review, and APR process with input from the Director.

    Collaborates with Director of Outpatient Operations and RN Supervisors at other sites to identify best practice guidelines and implement changes to service delivery.

    Oversees department in-service|training.
    Assists in maintenance of relevant department manuals and education records.
    Attends Leadership Learning Retreats and translates information gathered to staff. Participates in Pursuing Excellence as selected by the leadership team.
    Shares relevant information with staff.

    Communicates and assures understanding or relevant organizational and site level information to all staff in a timely manner Assists with development and management of department budget.

    Collaborates with Director when ordering supplies.
    Performs and manages vaccination administration, ordering, education and reporting in line with external and internal standards. Recognizes and respects patient/family rights in a culturally and religiously sensitive environment of care.
    Performs and documents effective phone and live clinical triage of patients.

    Performs medication refill and authorizations as needed Maintains required and relevant licensure and educational credits as required by external and departmental standards.

    Formal Education and Job-Related Experience * BSN with 3-5 years of nursing experience.
    Supervisory and/or management experience is preferred.
    Pediatric nursing experience strongly preferred.
    Demonstrates clinical excellence and leadership ability.
    Evidence of good time management skills and the ability to make effective decisions.
    Maintains a positive attitude and has excellent communication skills.
    Ability to influence, guide and motivate staff.
    Demonstrates tact, initiative and judgment in performance of duties.
    Flexibility both in work hours and performance of duties.
    Certification * AHA BLS Provider Certification required.
    License * Registered Nurse.
    Job Specific Contacts * Direct contact with patients, families, other health professionals, CSH staff.
    Physical Demands * Works at CSH facilities as designated by Director. May be required to travel among sites to provide clinical care, attend meetings, and|or provide supervisory responsibilities.
