    Scheduler Admitting Rep

    Olathe Medical Center The Doctors Building 1 (MOB 1 & W. 151st St.

    Position Summary / Career Interest:
    The Scheduler Admitting Representative is responsible for all aspects of scheduling at all locations with general supervision. Interacts with physicians, office staff, patients, patient families, nursing personnel, and other clinical personnel in a courteous and professional manner with a focus on keeping delays in procedural scheduling to a minimum.

    Responsibilities:
    • Must be organized, able to prioritize, use critical thinking skills, and perform work in an efficient and timely manner within established guidelines and policies; is proficient, accurate, and demonstrates attention to detail in all aspects of the job.
    • Maintains knowledge and understanding of scheduling protocols and guidelines, patient registration, pre-certification requirements and basic levels of health insurance and billing procedures. Maintains knowledge of order entry and scanning capabilities as job requires.
    • Schedules/reschedules/cancels appointments and procedures in a courteous, professional and timely manner; accommodates all scheduling requests; prioritizes exams based on clinical indications and contraindications; confirms patient appointments
    • Demonstrates knowledge in all computer systems necessary to retrieve orders; demonstrates knowledge in scheduling system with all necessary functions.
    • Answers phone calls in a timely manner; provides complete and accurate exam related information to the patient regarding prep and other exam related notes; keeps work area organized and scheduling information readily available; maintains productivity within benchmark levels
    • Demonstrates the initiative to assist others and other shifts as needed.
    • Verifies referring physician orders against scheduled appointments for accuracy.
    • Verifies patient demographics and insurance information which includes accurate spelling; maintains discretion and protects patient confidentiality and privacy.
    • Attends and actively participates in any staff training or education activities relating to job position.

    JOB REQUIREMENTS

    Required:
    • High School Diploma
    • 3-6 months in health care or customers service field
    • Basic computer skills
    Preferred:
    • Associates Degree
    • Medical Terminology Course
