- Adjusts radiographic equipment and/or computers to proper settings for each examination requested with maximum expertise applied.
- Responds from outside the hospital to all STAT procedures within a time period not to exceed 30 minutes.
- Performs all routine CT examinations within a time frame not to exceed 45 minutes, appropriate to the patient's age group.
- Reports all STAT readings to physicians and/or nurse within a period of time not to exceed fifteen minutes after the completion of the said examination.
- Reviews all patients' requests for diagnostic procedures as to designated anatomical part, clinical history and proper identification of patient.
- Reports all malfunctions of equipment, promptly to the Technical Director and notifies service company as to the need for repairs.
- Instructs patients regarding procedures being requested.
- Questions and documents all female patients of child bearing age regarding pregnancy. Arranges, attaches or adjusts immobilization and supportive devices to obtain the precise position.
- Prevents patients from moving and alleviates discomfort.
- Maintains a minimum of one weeks supply of stock items for assigned area. Maintains assigned area regarding cleanliness on a daily basis.
- Participates in quality improvement program via documentation.
- Reviews and documents all patient charts as to pertinent lab procedures, patient authorizations and allergies consistent with examinations requiring contrast injections.
- Teaches and directs the work of student radiologic technologists assigned to CT.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, must maintain confidentiality, full knowledge of all aspects concerning radiation protection, routine radiographic procedures and all radiographic equipment used in performing each procedure.
- Must have knowledge of computerized axial tomography equipment and procedures.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Satisfactory completion of formal Radiologic Technology training in an AMA approved school, plus three additional months of training.
- Ability to meet requirements for Registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and/or certification by the Board of Examinees.
- Will indicate growth within the department by continuing education and/or keeping abreast of technical updates through professional journals.
