- Graduate from an approved school of medicine.
- Completion of an accredited fellowship program in Cardiothoracic Surgery
- Completion of an ACGME/AOA accredited residency training program in General Surgery, followed by completion of an ACGME/AOA accredited fellowship training program in General Thoracic and Cardiothoracic Surgery. Or demonstrate completion of an ACGME accredited integrated six-year Cardiothoracic Surgery residency program.
- Board Certification or eligibility in Thoracic Surgery by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery.
- At least five years' experience is required.
- Demonstrate experience and current competency, to include the performance of at least 100 general thoracic and/or cardiovascular surgical procedures during the past 24 months.
- Demonstrate the performance of at least 100 cardiac surgery procedures in the past 24 months.
