    Role Overview


    The Systems Administrator role responsibilities include the stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the information systems that support MSF organizational functions.

    This is achieved by monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all networked software and associated operating systems.

    This position will use effective communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to assist in the identification, communication, and resolve of issues to ensure the maximize outcome of IT systems and investments.

    The Systems Administrator will work fluidly across the infrastructure elements of security, storage, and virtualization to deliver availability, capacity, services, and safeguards.

    Maintains overall responsibility for the availability and integrity of physical/virtual infrastructure, including network and server build documentations and change management.

    Maintain smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network, software, hardware, end users, and customer and IT management.

    Recommend, implement, and maintain system enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the systems including installing base hardware, upgrading/patching, monitoring, problem resolution, and configuration management.

    Manages and maintains lifecycle and daily tasks for physical/virtual server and storage systems, including monitoring system performance, configuration, maintenance, and repair.

    Works with vendors to assist support activities.
    Develops new system and application implementation plans, custom scripts, and testing procedures to ensure operational reliability.
    Troubleshoots and fixes issues with NFS shares, home directories, access and connectivity.
    Partners and works with OS and software venders to resolve issues in a professional and timely manner.
    Trains staff in how to use new software and hardware developed and/or acquired.
    Performs troubleshooting as required. Leads problem-solving efforts often involving outside vendors and other support personnel and/or departments/divisions.
    Ensures high availability and acceptable levels of performance of critical computer resources.
    Develops procedures, programs, and documentation for backup and restoration of host operating systems and host-based applications.
    Assists in the leadership in planning and implementation of projects for computer operations and systems administration.
    Stays current with technological developments in systems administration technology and recommends ways to take advantage of new technology.
    Qualifications, Experience

    Bachelor's degree preferred, but not required.
    Prior IT experience required and a minimum of 2 years of systems administration experience preferred.
    Working knowledge of Compellent storage, Unisphere and Nimble storage arrays.
    2 or more years of scripting experience (PowerShell) to assist in automation of tasks.
    2 or more years managing VMware/vSphere with iSCSI datastores.
    2 or more years managing Citrix VDI environments.
    2 or more years managing Azure and M365 solutions.
    Quickly analyze and troubleshoot network, operational issues with complex system operations and equipment.
    At least 2 years selecting, designing, implementing and managing industry leading backup solutions.
    2 or more years managing Microsoft SQL Server.
    Interpret non-technical communications to serve customers with skill and professionalism.
    Maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other employees, supervisors, vendors, and customers.
    Customer service practices that are required to meet and exceed end-user expectations.
    Physical Requirements

    Stationary position; prolonged periods at a desk and working on the computer.
    Occasional movement about inside the office to walk to offices and office machinery.
    Occasional lifting up to 25 pounds, stooping, bending, standing, reaching.

    Compensation & Benefits:
    $55,000-$105,000 annually
