    Essential Duties:

    Specific duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    Edit and write text for briefs, brochures, reports, website, and other communications materials.

    Manage/support layout of publications.

    Help develop and implement publication, communications, and marketing strategies and policies.

    Manage freelance editors and designers as needed.

    Required Qualifications:

    Bachelor's degree in English, journalism, communications, international development, or related field, plus 5 years of relevant professional experience in editing and writing publications, including in academic publishing; or a master's degree in English, journalism, communications, international development, or related field, plus 3 years of relevant experience.

    Demonstrated ability to edit and write for academic and nonacademic audiences and to understand the intention and nuances of different authors.

    Ability to understand complex scientific or economic texts and translate them for lay audiences.

    Strong attention to detail and ability to follow projects through to closure.

    Ability to work independently and multitask under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

    Excellent proofreading skills.

    Excellent interpersonal skills; demonstrated ability to work within a team in a multicultural environment and to collaborate well with researchers/authors.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Strong knowledge of IFPRI subject matter, and experience with or interest in international development.

    Knowledge of Chicago Manual of Style and ability to follow house style guidelines.

    Proficient in MS Office Suite, especially Word and Excel, and familiar with Adobe Acrobat Pro.

    Certificate in copyediting.
