    Requires a Bachelors degree in Systems Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field. Also requires 2+ years of job-related experience or a Master's degree. Agile experience preferred.


    CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS:

    Department of Defense Secret security clearance is preferred at time of hire, but must be obtainable within a reasonable period of time as determined by program requirements .

    Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

    Responsibilities for this Position

    GDMS is seeking a System Safety Engineer in support of work taking place under contract for the US Navy.

    This position will be a part of a team analyzing torpedo weapon systems and equipment to identify hazards, categorize risks, and recommend mitigations to reduce the probability/severity of a mishap resulting in injury to personnel, equipment damage, and/or damage to the environment.

    A DoD Security Clearance is required for this role, but an interim clearance will be acceptable to start.

    Duties/responsibilities/skill set:
    Spearhead software subsystem safety assessments, ensuring secure message traffic between weapons and naval platforms, and evaluating safety risks.
    Provided dedicated support to the Government Safety Team (GST) in the review of the developed systems safety significant design.
    Conduct thorough safety analysis on naval warfare systems to identify, assess, mitigate, and eliminate hazards.
    Prepared safety documentation in alignment with MIL-STD-882E specifications to support WSESRB and SSSTRP board meetings, ensuring compliance and adherence to safety standards
